Remounting tank
« on: February 24, 2018, 04:27:38 PM »
OK so when I got my 76 SS the rear tank rubber mount was not there.  I have since obtained one but I can't for the life of me figure out how it fits and holds the tank on.   The book says to open the mount but it looks like one piece to me.  Can someone point me in the direction I need to go please?

Once the mount is installed on the frame insert the front mounts onto their rubber mounts then lower the rear of the tank. The remaining slit goes over the mounting bracket on the tank. A little persuasion is all it takes. I start one corner then work it over the tank bracket. Make sense?
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

If it's the same as my 77, there should be two slots for the tabs on the frame to slide through. Then there is a wide slit in the mount that allows the tank to go through. You have to pull it back toward the rear some then up and over the tank mount.

So you kind of stretch the top over the tank flange.  I was being to gentle I think.  I was afraid that the top would rip.
Thanks folks!
