I'm wondering where to mount this oil temp sensor for the Chronoclassic gauge. I was thinking of the oil gallery plug where most people mount their mechanical oil pressure gauge. Is there a better suggestion? Also what type of connector is used on this?

I currently have it plugged but am going to install a pressure gauge and dash mount it buy running a SS line

Does the sensor match the threads on the sump oil drain plug? That's where the VDO temp sensor was mounted on my bike when I first got it. The connector required is probably a 1/4" female spade?

yes that is the korreekt hack..i just hate to see drilled cases hack week make a lot peapel ruin ther cases drilling them..renembet that oil temp need some flow..so dont put the sensor in a bline dead end..

The oil tank would be my choice. It has a nice stable consistent mass of hot oil and easy access. A pressure indicator in the oil gallery is more important since motoring is your gig, It's a reference point so you know the oil supply temperature heading for the engine is reasonable or has not changed dramatically, granted there are hotter measuring points. You can buy glue on sensors for the oil tank. Where a problem lay is if there is no oil flow to the tank then the oil would be cool. Maybe glue a temp sensor to the oil filter housing?

I got an oil tank (CB750 K1-K5) where an additional nut was attached. Made for VDO sensor that I ordered and now sit there. Tank on bike, VDO 2” temp gauge ordered too.

you can machine a brszz nut/insert..threddet for the instrument feeler..and solder it in the oil tank..then its easy to block the hole vhen not in use ..

My oil tank I got with other parts prepared for Oil temp sensor. After some search I found which thread the nut has. VDO sensor 300 (150C)/ 1/4-18NPT (conical thread)

Oil temp gauge arrived today. VDO for marine, IP67

It would be fine if a sensor could be used on the oil pan instead of oil bolt. The sensor must not be long then. Drill a hole thru the middle of the bolt, thread it for a thin sensor?

Do the oil tank as mine is trickier. I hope it is well done without any bad surprises on the road in high speed.

that is not good.

.he is messuring the oilcooler line..it gives a total different resultat as the inside sump temperature..you vant the fluid temp..not the autside of the engine block...

The oil pan drain plug is too small and I don't want to check the temp of the oil tank since it will have cooled a bit by that point.

I wonder what the difference would be with the thin oil tank surface and the oil inside it?

I have no experience of that. Maybe forum members MessnerMoto or Ilja has tried that?
They are very technical finding their own ways how to modify a CB750.
Ilja has a Turbo thread in the High performance forum. MessnerMoto primary chains and tensioners and more.
