I did put the head on the stands to check it over since this picture was taken. Over than that, no true work progress on the powerplant.

How radical is the porting on it

Extensive porting. As you can see, stock carb intake boots,are no longer used. It has Dayco hose large enough to accommodate 44mm Lectron carbs. Oversized titanium intake and exhaust valves on big seats.

Did you purchase the complete engine already built from another racer ?

I traded a street bike for a complete dragbike about 10 years ago. The transmission was damaged but the top end and cases are good.  I was given paperwork that Starr Racing originally built this engine. I pulled it apart to check out head and to verify the size. I was planning to put a new transmission in it and drop it back in the old conversion chassis.  I decided to just rebuild it with a 5 speed auto and put together another chassis so I could participate in the 4.60 index class. The engine just needs to be freshened up. I've got the 5 speed auto and will convert it to a slider clutch which I've also got on hand.

I was hoping it wasn't a stroker crank;I prefer engines with stoke stroke for best top-end myself,I've never drag raced.

That dude was putting V8 Detroit automobile engines in bikes as early as High School !  ;D  Even a Jet Drag Bike  :o
I wonder what he would have thought about those 1800cc GS1100E  Pro Mod engined bikes,if they were available when he was a kid growing-up?
I imagine he would have been one of the 1st ones to get one put into his street bike  ;D

Well gents, I haven't posted on this project for a bit. It's not because I haven't been making any progress. I took pictures but am unable to post here due to size althoughI'veattempted several times . I haven't taken the initiative to resize them. I suppose I should so I can at least give a few visual updates. Nevertheless,  I'm in the early stages of mocking up either actual or hopeful placement of various components including the ECU, coils, fuel pump, relays and nitrous oxide solenoids. I think I have a mount figured out for the Dash. I'm using an 8" Lenovo tablet with the Maxxecu MDash installed behind the on a plate behind the front fairing. I'll have room on either side of the table to put a digital nitrous pressure Guage and maybe a toggle switch. I had to have a forward handlebar plate made via CNC to move the bars a tad bit to the front. My arms weren't outstretched enough when mounted directly on top of the triple. It's feels better now but the bars currently obstruct the dash display a little.  Not enough to cause issues thankfully.  Unfortunately for me,  I now don't have room to install a delay box up front. I'll either ditch that feature or cut a hole on the side panels and place it there. Where there's a desire, there is a way. I need to have some mounting tabs added in order to bolt a plate to mount my ECU and the relays etc.. under the seat area. It really needs to be tig welded so I've got to work that out because I don't own a tig and am absent the skills yo operate one efficiently. The wife works at a local high school career center so I may see if the instructor would help me out on a weekend or after school hours. I've been chomping at the bit to buy a nice quality tig machine for years but it's hard to justify the cost for the few jobs it would be used in my shop. On the other hand, a multi purpose welder with Mig, Flux, stick and Tig is way more practical but cost prohibitive for a hobbyist like me.

Standby guys, I'm going to work out this picture thing even if I have to bleed trying. Lol

How's your engine ?

It's still sitting on the work bench in pieces. Lol. I'm trying to get the chassis sorted first because it has to come back apart for powder coating. While that's being done, I'll jump on the engine.

Had to bolt in a dummy set of cases to sort out the bearing support.  Then Built a mock up engine to check the exhaust fitment

Constant lambda reading  another detail I would like.
(with alarm  if going way wrong)

The lambda sensors are usually very big. Really small would be fine. I have a Daytona Wego III I have not used yet. The lambda sensor is so fat, car type.
Need a slimmer one for smaller bung in exhaust pipe, very thin stainless and light.

I had it set up in demo mode with just a few random parameters that I selected from a pull down menu. Once I get acclimated to the actual tuning program,  I'll add whatever I need to run, activate or monitor operations of the bike.  It'll be connected to the ECU via Bluetooth once everything is done

 As far as the oxygen sensor,  it's unfortunate that we're stuck using the large automotive type. In a dragbike application it's not a huge issue but if I had a really  nice street bike I don't think I'd be to happy with it showing up like an eyesore. Ahh, the things we have to deal with in the 2 wheeled world. Obviously I have to use an O2 sensor because this bike will be fuel electronic  fuel injected.

Yes, a new pup. I had to have the Rottweiler mix put down a while ago due to muscle wasting disease.  It was painful to slowly watch him experience difficulty in standing up and then randomly falling down. I had to keep him on pain medication 24/7. It got to be to much when I had to hand fed him. Sometimes you have to know when to let them go. I held on a tad too long. I got this black dog as a tiny puppy last February so she's not a year old yet.  Cane corso per the breeder and verified by a DNA test. Lol. She's still breaking me in and weighs almost 100lbs.

Frank, she's a good looking dog, a bit of a bruiser. The kind of dog that would scare someone to death on a moonless night, appearing out of the dark with a deep growl or bark. I know a few dogs that wait until they are in close before uttering a sound...unless you hear their feet on the ground you are gonna get taken by surprise. She looks like she would grab her prey behind the head and shake twice to break it's neck like my old Chow Collie mix. Saw her take out a possum once, shook it once with one nod left then right and it was dead. She pulled like a freight train on walks and fiercely protective dog and loving and gentle as the day was long with kids.

Too bad the sidewinders won't fit, that would have looked good.

Raf, she's chewing on a piece of raw hide in that picture.  It didn't stand a chance. She's still got a lot of growing and maturing to do as the puppy mode is still in full affect.  She's an  outside dog for the most part. I take her with me when I go to the shop so she can run free across the property but most of the time she's right beside me inside trying to help. Hahaha.  While she hasn't shown aggressive tendencies yet, she is a good watch dog  and alerts when something is going on.  That's all I ask of a dog, but if push comes to shove maybe she'll turn into a natural defender as the breed was intended. I know the birds and squirrels catch he'll when she's around.
