Yep, that's almost as dumb as an engine designer could get. I say "Almost" because there are lots of modern econo boxes buzzing around with engines that purposely stall at each set of lights, to "save fuel". You stop at the lights, the engine conks out, you press the accelerator pedal, and it starts. Sound good?
Only problem is, it's only a starter motor, and instead of operating when you leave your home, then leave from work (or shopping, or whatever) your starter motor is going to have to operate at every red light, T intersection, etc etc, so instead of (hopefully) lasting the life of your car, you'll probably be buying a new starter motor every couple of years.
And of course, they're located under your intake manifold, or inside your engine cases, or under your exhaust system, making your bi-annual starter motor replacement a major expense...........
