Not my vehicle, but spent the afternoon pulling the heads off of a buddy's  '66 Chris Craft 283 V8.  One burnt (and cracked) valve.  Off to the machine shop.

Go metric, every inch of the way!

Got 2 trucks sitting in the back yard that need of serious love.

Just too darn frustrated to go out there and mess with them due to the #2 exhaust pipe is cold on my CB350four.

Also wanted to attend TGhe Meltdown, and could not get things going right to drive up there.

So, stuck here, so I casn go out and figure the cold pipe out.

As frustrating as it is mate, it'll be simple. A plugged primary jet, a valve not seating, or a bad plug or lead. I'll swap, I've gotta pull my ZZR1100 engine out, and strip it down to the crankshaft, which will need repair. Don't be frustrated, treat it as a challenge. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Pulled the alternator and battery from my SRX after getting a "service charging system" warning. Autozone was busy when I stopped by with the vehicle to get it tested, so I figured I would just pull them. I did that then went to get the alternator tested only to be told it could only be done on the car. #^#=%.

A test of the battery turned up a bad cell, so I replaced the battery (the alternator would have been cheaper,  car batteries with $20 of lead, plastic, and acid have gotten stupid expensive) and the two tensioner pulleys.

I removed the old and possibly tired pink Shirley Muldowney parachute from the racecar and put on a new purple Stroud drag chute. The car is 20-30 mph faster than when it was new so I got one size bigger to match the speeds we're going.

Raced it, we got down to 4 cars and gave one away when we lost lane choice and ended up first car after a clean-up. It went straight but slowed a couple hundredths. Our car is the one that looks like a lawn dart. Our racing friends used the same color.

Working up a port polish for the bombardier.  Got real lucky when parts bike had a brand new, improperly installed, never run 720cc big bore piston in it.
Hopefully these corrections to the casting flaws and resurfacing will get the most from the oversized piston!  The shape is already well engineered with all the right curves in the right places.
Still a ways to go on the polish but it'll get there

Started the new to me LS engine inside my 1970 El Camino for the first and second time. No weird noises and I had 45 psi of oil pressure after its 3-4 seconds of run time on starting fluid.

I will run it longer tonight on real gasoline and see how the 4L60E transmission behaves. Not ready for it to move under its own power just yet but this is the first time any engine has ran in this truck since my best guess of about 1984. The original two barreled 350 small block Chevy got parked back then with plain water in the block which froze many times since then thus cracking the oil gallery walls in three places.

My first Chevy was a '72 El Camino.  Miss that car.

I continued the build of my current Chevy. I have a '16 Express 3500 LT Extended body van.  I'm converting to camp in, but am still using it as my DD.  The bed was built for an October '17 trip (bought it used in July '17). I've got 3 or 4 different things going on before a Memorial Day weekend trip.  No new pics, but here's an old one;

Currently, I'm building drawers under the bed, that slide out the back doors. I've built LED bedside lamps that will mount on the rear pillars.  Ran the power today.

There's a Nissan that puts the starter under the intake manifold. Seems to me that just lighting it on fire just doesn't say enough.  Maybe a grenade.

Yep, that's almost as dumb as an engine designer could get. I say "Almost" because there are lots of modern econo boxes buzzing around with engines that purposely stall at each set of lights, to "save fuel". You stop at the lights, the engine conks out, you press the accelerator pedal, and it starts. Sound good?

Only problem is, it's only a starter motor, and instead of operating when you leave your home, then leave from work (or shopping, or whatever) your starter motor is going to have to operate at every red light, T intersection, etc etc, so instead of (hopefully) lasting the life of your car, you'll probably be buying a new starter motor every couple of years.

And of course, they're located under your intake manifold, or inside your engine cases, or under your exhaust system, making your bi-annual starter motor replacement a major expense........... ;D

and also taxing the battery and alternator,in a year itll save #$%* all fuel for a start(no pun intended) but add to land fill etc with old but young parts thrown out,and dumb #$%*s think they've helped save the #$%*ing planet, more dumb ideas that dumb start/stop #$%*,you can select it to be off, like what if you had a flat battery and got a jump start then next red light it stops so ya need another jump start?im sure the racv or whatever road service aint gonna follow you all the way to work?and I thought the pcv valve under inlet manifold on v6 commodore/buick was dumb and the mitsubishi east west v6 with rear spark plugs ya gotta pull the manifold,#$%* I hate modern dumb #$%*!oops wrong thread...

yes not just vearing starters/bushings/flyvheel toots aut..special stop /go batteries..vho cost tveise..there need to be deseined a komplet new type start clutch and elektro motor vith bearings....
an other problen ..is the catalysator dont like start/stop...and fuel injektion..gives a ekstra punch at start...so use up the saved fuel..by stopping...so all you are left vith....is ekstra vear..and cost to rep...

Luckily, my big honkin' van doesn't do that.  Besides, the only ones that I know of that do that are hybrids.

I bought a 1984 Fuji 12 speed road bike. It needs tires and may have the original ones on it. 27x1 1/8" wheels, it's a bit high on the standover height but safe for my boys.

Ha ha, it's battery killing weather here today, especially on sh1tboxes. My youngest son is trying to learn how to fix things 20 years too late (probably my fault for not teaching him earlier, I spent too much time away from home when they were little) and today I was trying to diagnose what soon became obvious was a dead battery on his (ex?) girlfriend's Poo-jo, a truly disgusting excuse for a motorcar.

Still, as he said, a dead battery was the best outcome, it could have been a ridiculously expensive alternator that would probably require the removal of the engine, or a new starter motor that would probably necessitate a full engine strip. As much as I love Europe, I can't think of any modern European car that I'd piss on, if it was on fire........... ;D
