Jeeps would have to be the biggest automotive disappointment (well, after Holden's "Craptiva" of course) I was gonna lease a new Jeep when I was in Canberra, but luckily for me at least 4 different work colleagues were able to relate stories about fried electrics, transmission issues, and even one spontaneous combustion issue in a shopping centre carpark. I leased my Ford territory instead, and 3 years later, so far no issues. We really do need lemon laws here in Oz, and then the Spotty family can finally rest easy.........

seeing I did the front bushes last week its the rears turn this weekend,it certainly rides quieter with the new rubber replacing the old hard nolathanes,i forgot how much fun working under a car on its suspension was!

Well, I planned to work on my '69 Plymouth GTX, BUT Mother Nature had other plans, because we have all kinds of Severe thunderstorm warnings & I
am not quite to where I can get the GTX in the garage. Still working on that!
(Made a lot of progress & nearly there.

the GTX was every teenagers Dream Car in the early 70's, well at least in my area of Vermont/New Hampshire.

I drive the nastiest freeway in the whole wide world (91 in So Cal.) so it only gets about 15 to 16+ for my commute. But it runs around 19 to 21 when I get on the open road.

The Ecoboost does better, but in the stop and go that I drive in the turbo would never spool up. So I couldn't see spending the extra dead presidents just to say "Hey I got a turbo". That and I'm a cheap S.O.B.! It drives nice and has all the doohickies I need.

Nice, and I know what you mean, even though they're about the same size and weight, my old 1998 Exploder only gets 19 MPG out of it's 4 litre V6 whereas my 2015 Territory gets closer to 40 from it's 2.7 litre V6 turbo diesel, but the turbo lag is really noticable in traffic to the point where it's dangerous, so I only use the Territory for country driving.

My actual daily driver is a Mitsubishi Outlander that I traded a mate a Honda VTR1000 and some cash for, I was never a fan until I realised how good it is on fuel (about the same as the Territory) so it's the first set of keys I reach for when I'm going somewhere, but otherwise, the old Exploder is still my favourite.

I think you mean "Small Block 340". The Base Motor for a GTX, was the 440, which is the "Raised Deck" version of the Big Block. In 1969, the only option was the 426 HEMI and THOSE things go for HUGE BUCKS.

Terry called it right, "Super Commando", which is the 440. It also is a base model (No A/C, No Power anything, except under the hood). It is also a 4spd car with Sure Grip (Positraction, for those who might not know). It was supposed to have the Dana 60 differential, but someone swapped out the Dana for an 8 3/4 differential & left off the emergency brake. Go figure!

Had a '69 road runner, back in 1970 (same body style, if you didn't know) & never thought I would ever be able to get another one. So, this one takes be back to 1970.

Tried to put a trailer hitch on my 2001 Corolla, then realized I need to drill a 1+ inch hole in the frame....waiting for drill to arrive in the mail.

Meanwhile this is the car I would like to buy, once the money tree
.....couldn't find a picture of the 1968 AMX to post, but it was painted an ugly blue/white/red stripes front to back.

Fixed the dead headlight with a nice shiny new H4 courtesy of my employers , and then thought I'd give it it's annual bath.
Problem was I may not have concentrated guite as well as I should so after the jet wash and rinse I apparently missed a whole door and several largish patches which all dried to its usual dirty beige colour whilst the rest of the car is now silver, oops, finish it tomorrow
The alloys came up a treat though, don't know what that sh1t is they use in the work wash bays but it is vicious, gets years of brake dust and cr@p off in one go

Took the hood off, drained the coolant, removed the radiator. Next is taking the head off....

apparently the rep is coming in this afternoon so the folk in the cave like environment down the back of the building are going to ask about smaller containers and prices ( we buy it in 50L barrels )
alternately i shall whip you a smallish amount in a bottle, though apparently an old soft drink bottle will not be sufficiently sturdy to handle this #$%*....
it does not play well with raw alloy either
