I got a lovely gear pattern on the keeper 9" ford differential, for my firebird, the one made from the leftover parts was not so easy. A well-worn set of gears always seems to be a challenge to duplicate the pattern.
Edit, I printed two sets of instructions for reference and one said to spin the gears with a drill motor. The pattern I was looking for appeared on the gears. The marking grease was almost hard, I mixed it with some wheel bearing grease, and it got a lot easier to see.
I filled my new Harbor freight parts washer with detergent and water, I soaked an F0 head, and got it a bit cleaner. It had a missing tach seal and had covered itself with a nice coating of weatherproofing, but that's for the motorcycle thread.

Both rear tires on the car have a habit of losing pressure.  Its been a slow leak that's gotten nursed bi-weekly for a while.  But now with cold weather and less use - the rate of depressurization has advanced to 38 hours.

The easiest thing to do was replace the valve stem cores.  Will see of that makes things better.  Otherwise, the wheels may have to come off for service.

That attachment could come in handy, I also need to lift the bed off my dually to replace the brake lines.

I bought this gantry crane from Harbor Fraught  (or Fright) 3 or 4 years ago when they were still doing their 25% off coupons for about $500 out the door.  They've gone up a little since then but it is nicely made and has replaced my folding shop crane for most engine pulling work.  It has come in handy for a bunch of other things too, like unloading heavy stuff from trailers.  I'll be using it to pull the bed off the '81 Toyota pickup one of these days.

I bought the truck crane from HF and use it on my trailer for logging and other things.  It works reasonably well after I rebuilt the hydraulic cylinder.

I finally got a good pattern on the left-over parts 9" ford rear. The R&P is so worn in "the pattern is full, ghostrider"
I'm tickled with what I think is the ultimate 9" ford third member, it's a decades long collection of parts and information. I remove the springs from the posi unit, they are mostly there for icy conditions and this car won't ever see ice, it's shimmed snugly but it should go around a corner with no chattering at all.

 Thanks David.

I was admiring a truck crane a couple days ago. I have a cherry picker from a local farm store, I made a boom extension, and I can go 10' feet in the air now. It can get a little tippy so I put lead ballast on the rear when I use it. I can set a 750 on a 6' tall shelf. Less motor so far.

This week I sold my 2015 Ford Territory SUV to my son. Part of the deal was that he traded me his 2002 Subaru Liberty (Legacy in the US) B4 twin turbo, plus some cash. (the car in the pic isn't mine, but it's the same colour with the same wheels)

Subaru Legacy B4 by Terry Prendergast, on Flickr

As much as I loved the Territory, it's a big arsed SUV and a pain to park in the little car parks in the streets around where I work, especially in the dark at 6am, when I go to work. My son, on the other hand, works in TV and the film industry, so needed a bigger car so he could carry all his equipment, so we did the deal. I've had the Territory since new and it was important to my boy to get a good used SUV with a known history, as all his other cars he bought used, and most (including the Subaru) have been pretty unreliable.

The Subaru has been breathed on by a PO, so instead of the 254 BHP of a stocker, we were told that it's putting out a tad over 300, at the wheels due to an ECU change, and some turbo tweaking. Today was the first time I'd driven it in years, and initially I thought that the turbo's weren't kicking in? Then I got in a situation where I had to merge into another lane (roadworks ahead) so I booted it, and FCUUUUUUK!!! The turbo's both work fine. ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

When I loaded flatbed semi's we called this amount of cribbing an enemy buildup. Yes, that is a cb750 brake piston pressing the posi unit off the bearing.

Back to the drawing board.
Attention now going to coolant temp sensor/thermostat and the TPS

Greased the wheel bearings on the 32 bogey wheels, 4 return wheels, 2 track adjusting idler wheels and finally the drive sprocket wheels on my Studebaker Weasel. Hours of unmitigated fun.

Nice! The car is long forgotten, and the band who adopted it's name is not far behind now, but it's fantastic, to me at least, to see a 100+ year old vehicle still running, and still capable of performing it's original design brief. My cousin's daily driver is his 1928 Dodge "Fast Four" that he restored when he was 15. I think he's 65 this year, but he and his old Dodge are still going strong. ;D

Since we're talking antiques, here is my buddies 1925 Ford!  [prolly only the frame is from 1925?!]

Has a [GASP!] Chevy 454 big block with dual carbs and a 671 blower.
My "butt dyno" says it's putting out 500hp.

Last time we started it, it developed a fuel leak with one of the custom fuel lines fittings, I've offered to repair it for him [so I can drive it again!]

Our race car has a big block chevy and powerglide with only 3 genuine chevrolet parts. They are in the transmission.
I picked up a tube of 1/16" 308 stainless steel welding rod for the exhaust on the firebird. It went bad on the last weld and I'm having a hard time getting started again.
