I have been scared of sludge ever since they first started talking about it on a greater scale in the late 80s. I have been using Mobil1 in all of my cars ever since. Used to bring my own oil to the dealership when they serviced the cars while still under warranty. Now our Audi dealer uses synthetic at all oil changes for both my wife's car and mine. My 90 Corvette ZR-1 always had Mobli1 spec'd by the factory.

Most new cars use grades of oil that you just can't achieve with conventional. My Cadillac only requires 5-30, so conventional is an option, but with the heavy city driving I do, I stick with synthetic. My last VW used 0-40, so it was synthetic only. My MG gets Valvoline 20W50 racing oil that has ZDDP in it.

You should decide what grade of oil you are using, depending on how and when you drive and where you drive. The grade spec from the manufacturer is supposed to cover any possible scenario. When you live in Southern California it makes absolutely no sense to use 0-40, if a 15-40, for example, is available. For my bikes, that here in NE Ohio only get use from May through mid-November I don't use anything but 20-50. I don't even buy a 5-.. even if it is on sale.

Replaced the muffler and rebuilt the exhaust on the old Scout, getting it ready for Western Regionals in April.  The old muffler must of had an obstruction since I've owned it and causing an abnormal back pressure cause now my Weber is jetted to lean and it runs HORRIBLE.......LOL.  New jets are on the way

That scout is one tough looking truck mate! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

its a us car. made smaller to fit in Europa
..in Europa ford cortinas vas very populær..the british 1600..had a kompled different build up..vith mc preshon legs in front..and very light build..the Taunus/cortina from 70 and on ..had a massive front build up vith spiral springs and the vhole front suspision and stering in a komplet unit boltet on the frame...make it heavu and not as sporty.(.the granada vas the same prinsip)..not European style..and the cars vas not used in rallyes or any sport..the Escort vas heavy used..and some fev capries..but cortina /Taunus  vas just too soft and heavy..fine for Family cars..

thek aut the cool TEE train as kraftwerk used in trans-euro-Express...

In the UK, back in the day, they used to refer to that car as the Cortinny and said you could hear it rust !!

I only remember them as having the worst locks in Christendom, you could open a Cortina with a spoon. If I recall correctly I helped "lift" more than a few for a wee gallop around town after several libations.

In culture, as they say, the Cortina is possibly best immortalised  by Ian Dury's song Billericay Dickie

When I lived in Delaware I bought a Ford Pinto. That's another story . . . .

Racecar report,  I cut the bottom of the poured seat insert by an inch to get the driver's helmet a little more clearance from the roll cage, put the seat insert back in and threaded the new seat belts in. Now when my driver has time I'll have her put on the fire suit, helmet and hans device and we'll adjust the 6 point belts before putting the body back on.  Then that'll leave the transmission left to put in which is at the rebuilder after having the safety cases re-certified. At the end of the month I get the trailer out of storage and when it's warm enough do the swap the race car goes into the trailer and my 40 chevy coupe goes in the garage.  That means moving a bunch of bikes from one side to the other.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.
If you love it, set it free, if it stays it's probably one of my 750's.

it appears i may have slightly blown up the transmission in the Holden rodeo, it has always been a 4 speed, now there only appears to be two sort of functioning ratios left in there.....FCUK
going to have to do some investigations as to whether its a solenoid problem (cheapish fix) or gear damage ( not cheap at all ) time to start looking for a s/hand box cos a new/reco one will be maybe 3K fitted....FCUK
i blame Terry

Spotty don't worry about it if it is only "slightly blown up".
