Tried to convince a painter to Just Give me my car back. He's had it 3 + weeks for painting a simple 1 inch x 12 inch rust bubble on the bottom of the door.
The dummy took it off the car, which he didn't have to do. >:(

The weather here in Melbourne is miserable, to match the mood of the people as we're in our 4th stage 4 (harshest) Covid-19 lockdown. Cold, wet and miserable. At 1am, I heard a loud bang and worried that one of my bikes had been blown over by the gale force winds. In my slightly overdosed state I decided that it'd be better if I checked in the morning, reasoning that if one of my bikes had fallen over, it couldn't fall any further, even though my only worry was that I haven't yet insured my little Suzuki T350.

I woke up feeling pretty ill, so rang my doctor and turns out I'm having withdrawal symptoms from an anti-depressant that I'd decided wasn't working. So there I was sitting there feeling sorry for myself with the shakes, when the wife told me that she had some bad news for me. I said, "It's not the T350 is it?" No, she said. "Oh my God, not the K2?". No again. ""Not the K0?, tell me it's not the K0??" And this went on until she told me to shut up, and said some kid had smashed his car into my "Daily Driver", a 2009 Mitsubishi Outlander that I've had since 2017, that I bought from the original owner.

"Oh" I said, "Did you get his details?". "Yes, he knocked on the door and apologised profusely, and gave me all his details". No worries, I couldn't care less, it was a nice car, but as the steering/suspension has been damaged, it'll probably get written off by the insurance company as it's not worth fixing. That's fine, the insured value will cover the cost of buying a good used "Ute", a sedan based pickup. I've wanted one for a while now for picking up bikes and parts, so it's a win/win.

I remembered to ring the insurance company and insured the T350. The guy I spoke to said, "You've now got 20 bikes insured with us!" I thought to myself, "I better check my policy, I'm pretty sure I won 27?" ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

That tire is so old and crusty John, I'm surprised that it actually went down! ;D

When my 46yo tractor tire blew the hole was big enough to put my fist through. I'd just got off the tractor to take a leak and was 10 feet away, it sounded like a gunshot.

I hope you didn't have a nervous bowel loosening reaction when you heard that loud gunshot-like explosion mate? ;D

I missed the blow out. Just put it away and discovered it the next day. My MF135 has a Perkins 3 cyl. Diesel engine and is an absolute gem. Tough as old nails and starts on the button, every time. Tires were loaded with who knows what combination of salts, water and anti freeze. I was terrified the rims would be rotten....l

Yesterday, peeled off the old rubber and the rims were spotless! Cleaned a bit of rust off the bead area and the new GALAXY (Made in India) tires just popped on (left them up along side the black building and they were hot to the touch). Installed HD tubes and loaded them with windshield washer fluid! Never took the rims off the tractor...... These should last me a “life time”. .

Nice Massey Ferguson. I have a 76' Yanmar YM1300D that I have had for 21 years. It's a 2 cylinder diesel 4x4 and it has been very reliable since I have owned it. It only had 993 hours on it when I got it from Japan. Here it is banished to the woodshed by bikes. 8)

Nothing better than a reliable tractor! Today I cut grass and I should’ve replaced those tires years ago... smooth ride, almost no “bounce”. The old ones were well past their BB date!

My original tires were rice paddy tires with huge paddles for tread on the back tires.

Tractor owners probably look down their noses at Toro ride on mower owners Dave, so maybe a ride on mower thread? I've got a couple, and of course, don't need either...... ;D

My Cub Cadet lawn tractor has been running rich and gutless for a 24 hp. Kohler. I gave it a tank of no alcohol gas and a healthy dose of seafoam. By the time I got through the backyard, no black smoke and it will take more throttle without flooding out.
The second time it's done that and the same cure worked. Bottom line, cheap gas gumming things up.
It does not compare in any way to my son in law's zero turn snapper, that thing is a mowing beast. Foot tall grass mowed too short doesn't even slow it down.

My youngest son finally got his 99 Mazda Miata roadworthy. He's been working on it for a bit over a year now swapping out the blown 4 cyl (blown as in big gaping hole on side of block) and in it's place a 3.5 liter V-6 out of an '02 Honda minivan. Yeah I know a small block Ford or Chevy LS would be cooler but I tell you what, this pea shooter of a car flat out flies with that Honda V-6.

great swap!over here that would have to have an engineers report though to secure a road worthy and a modification plate attatched under the hood somewhere!

Yeah I've heard you guys have to deal with a lot of legal wrangling depending on the modification. I guess in a way it's a good thing because you'd be shocked if you saw what drivers can get away with here. My son essentially got a kit that gave him everything he needed to make it happen such as new engine cradle specifically for that engine swap, wiring harness and so on and it uses the Miata trans and rear end. The biggest issue he had was figuring out a way to cleanly rout the coolant lines, the Honda mini van the engine came out of was front wheel drive and with the engine mounted the way it is now means all the coolant line come from the back of the engine instead of the front.

Funny, jeep guys swap engines all the time.  I read about CJ7 with 4 cylinder marine diesel in it.

But in my old country, the red tape is awful, too.  Cop will pull you over and check that your motorcycle tires are the size and type from the factory.  Sidecars have safety inspections and you either have bike with a sidecar and papers for it or solo bike - if you have sidecar and papers for solo bike, you are in trouble. and vice versa.

And the stupidest thing ever  - you need to have a first aid kit in your vehicle and cop will pull you over, check that you have it and will write you a ticket if the band aid expired.

The V6 engine in the Miata is probably a better choice than a V8. Better balance and the car is so small he would have a hard time getting anything over 300hp or so to hook up. I bet it's a blast to drive.

It's really too bad that some of you guys are so restricted when it comes to modifications. Life would be so dull if I couldn't tinker with stuff all the time. A good example would be my 93' F-250 steering linkage. The factory inverted Y system sucks because it doesn't move in the same arc's as the suspension parts. I put in a center link steering system that the parts move in almost the same arc's as the suspension. The improvement is huge but some of you can't do stuff like that due to government restrictions which is sad. I love to modify stuff to make it better, none of my vehicles are completely stock except the wife's hybrid car.

I took the oem trailer hitch off my dually and bolted on a curt heavier duty hitch. The old one was rusty under the powder coat and the insert was wearing it out. The pin hole needed welded up or drilled bigger.

Oh it is a blast to drive. It's not that fastest by any stretch of the imagination in fact his modified Subaru Impreza WRX that he sold in order to fund the Miata build was quicker but this Miata is a lot more fun. He has more mods planned to increase its performance but for now he wants to make sure everything is working the way it should before he goes further.
