Not mine but I'm doing a 26 hour each way trip to Reno Nv with a friend to pick up an old car. I don't even know what it is. We're roughing it, taking his Tahoe and open trailer instead of his motor home. The trailer is sitting at the farm, I hope the tires are recent.

Haven’t done one of those in a while! Sounds like fun. Found out what car yet?

Got some "new" wheels and rear tires for the buggy...

The front tires are what came on the set of wheels that I bought locally, they are really old and too tall. They rub when I go thru the woopties!

Got the 4L60E rebuild project back on track and got all the insides back inside. Now I just need to get the shifter bracket, valve body, and servo's back in and it will be time to install and see if I did it right.

The rental Echo is ready for next weekend. Two X 8 hour Endurance Races at Calabogie. Just finished up installing a fresh motor in the Lexus, should be ready in a day or two.

I guess that won't be an issue for me since I never stopped driving older vehicles, that's all I own. 8)

It was a 63 chevy II. The seller lied and the floors were rusted out. We left it there in his driveway and returned with the trailer empty. 5 days and 5 hours round trip.

We drag raced at Byron Il. n Super Comp. We went three rounds yesterday but lost first round today on a -003 red light.
The track was slick and got better as the day went on. New track owners and a nationwide shortage of traction compound has changed the racing. We used to run hard, close to 8.90 and consistent, now it takes a quick setup and a wheel man at the finish line using brakes and throttle to stay inches ahead of your opponent.
If it stays like this, we may find another venue. Maybe top speed racing. It needs tires next year anyway.

Back when I raced RC cars we would use cheap sugar laced soda on the asphalt as traction compound enhancer, using prayers to apply on the racing line around the track...
But we ran foam tires and traction compound used for those wasn't sugar water of course...

Put 6 brand new Motorcraft spark plugs in the Lincoln. It has the 3.5 twin turbo EcoBoost V6 in it with 110,000 miles. I was experiencing multiple misfires when I got hard into the turbos and would occasionally trip the check engine light.

The job was pretty straight forward, even the rear cylinders only required removing one nut and a couple of hoses to get enough room to slide the plus caps off. All the plugs were showing a nice tan color, but you could clearly see on the old plugs where the super fine iridium tip of the plug was gone compared to the new plugs.

Hit the throttle hard merging on the highway last night and no hesitation.

A video of our dragster shows the launch and it's way too soft. I over-cured the wheelie problem, the starting line rpm needs to be higher and maybe a little more time at wide open throttle before we go on the 4250 rpm throttle stop. That used to last 2.2 seconds plus or minus, right now it's around 1.6 seconds.
On the good side, with the fresh fuel the top end mph is back to 173 which says the horsepower is still there.

Made a new door stopper bar mount.
Mounted my new light.

Tomorrow going to add a switch to the light and double check my dwell and timing. Truck has has a bit of a low rpm miss and sluggish pulling out.

Loaded up the Echo “rent a racer” and the Lexus race cars. My team mate, that gets a new GM truck every six months, is picking up a new one this evening. Diesel fuel is over $2/litre here today, so this one is gas. Pictures tomorrow. “Break In” in this weekend pulling the Echo to Calabogie for another double header. Eight hour Endurance races both days. We have 4 drivers signed up for the Echo, but my friend from Calgary can’t make this event. Only three of us in the Lexus, so lots of laps this weekend! Can’t wait.

Perfect weather and had a great time! The little Echo ran flawlessly and the guys managed to collect enough points to end the year 2nd in Class. One of our Lexus drivers (my friend from Calgary) couldn’t make it, so we only had three drivers. Marc had a Family Emergency late Saturday, and had to get back to Montreal, and fly to Halifax! Tim and I did double two hour stints on Sunday, and finished 2nd in Class, both days. We had a blast!

Tim did a double stint on Saturday (it was his turn), so he spent 8 hours in the car, over two days!!! Our lap times on the +6 kilometre road course calculate to +125 KPH laps. We covered over 2,000 kilometres over the weekend and Tim drove 1,000 kilometres!

Steve….. Mosport is 20 minutes down the road from our farm. I’ve been racing there since 1970 (including every SCCA Regional), so our paths probably crossed! This weekend we were at Calabogie, in the Laurentian Mts. +6 kilometres of rolling track, Fall colours were in full bloom. Sunshine and blue skys all weekend! One of the guys was taking pictures. I’ll post a ew when he sends them.....
