I have a small British car too, a 72' MGB/GT. It's really fun to drive and dirt simple to work on. The running gear is very robust and I can get any part I need to fix it including sheet metal stamped on the original tooling.

4 X snow tire are mounted up and the “winter mats” are in my wife’s SUV. Riding season is pretty much done. The water in the dog bowl outside the garage was frozen this am!

Well after the hassle I've had recently with my diesel and the mobile wrench, I bought a quad cab 3/4 ton dodge. this time a gas truck. Pretty good price I felt but its still a used truck so going through and getting little things fixed it. looks like it needs O2 sensors and 2 coil packs.
pulled the codes and checked out the packs today.

Hopefully this truck works out for you. What year did you get?

In 98' after I recovered from breaking my back we were working on moving out of the city. I knew we would need a full size truck to live on acreage in the country. I wanted to buy the last truck I would ever need. The first job I had after recovering was at a large RV dealership moving trucks, trailers and motorhomes around. I was able to test drive all of the recent full size trucks and made my choice.

At a GMC dealer I found a 93' F-250 diesel 4x4 with the super cab and long bed. 93' was the last year of the mechanical injected non-turbo 7.3L V8 diesel. It only had 61k miles on it and was all stock.
Now it has 141k miles and has a full Banks turbocharger kit, a 4" Skyjacker soft ride lift kit with Firestone air bags on the rear, Super Runner center link steering linkage, a Detroit Locker and a stage 2 towing transmission with a double clutch torque converter.

Compared to new diesel trucks it's down on power at 280hp and 500lbft of torque. On the other hand it is very simple, reliable and affordable to maintain compared to late model diesel trucks.

I'm not much of a Ford fan but you can't beat a mechanically injected 7.3. they're just great running motors especially for the price point you see for diesels sell for compared to Chevy or dodge.
You'll sometimes find the 6.5 trucks cheaper but the Ford with a manual trans is a better work truck as much as it pains me to say.
If this dodge wasn't so close to the house I was going to go after a 7.3 truck but it was a 4 hour drive to see it.

The dodge I picked up was a 2005 ram 2500 quad cab 4x4 with the 5.7 liter hemi
Definitely nothing to write home about but it will serve my purpose well enough.

Replaced the two struts that hold up the hood on my wife’s Hyundai Santa Fe SUV. Under $20 on Amazon, delivered next day. One was shot, the other seems OK. I have a “spare” so will likely last forever!

“Old trucks” make me smile and ones with real history and original paint are even better!
Me too. I had a 49 Dodge B1D one ton that I bought in 1981 and rebuilt the 232 flat head six in it. It was a fun truck for going to work in. I sold it to my brother in law when we left Las Vegas for New Hampshire in 1984. It fell into disrepair in the 90s and kids smashed the windows in it...

It probably will still run now with a little convincing. My buddy and I resurrected 3 WWII Dodge Army trucks with the flathead 6 and we got all 3 running and drove them home. We drove the 42' radio panel 300 miles home from it's resting place in a Walla Walla farm field sunk to the axles out by the barn for about 20 years. We brought a mounted set of tires, a battery, an electric fuel pump with some line and clamps. Plus fresh gas, a tool box and the dog. 8)

Checked the oil in my turbo Subaru for the first time in a long while yesterday and discovered that it was down 1.5 litres! WTF? Then I remembered that it had dropped a fair bit of oil when I recently replaced both turbo’s and I’d meant to top it up, but obviously forgot. Filled it up and will give it an oil and filter change this weekend, as I found a jug of full synthetic liquid gold (according to the price tag) that my son left behind when he moved back to Sydney a couple of years ago. Win/win! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

The Saturday after Thanksgiving I finally got my long stalled MGB-GT project moved from the outdoor storage where it had been for the past 18 months up to our place in Michigan and into the barn. I have been trying to get it out of storage since July, but they are expanding the facility and my car was blocked by construction materials for months. My brother-in-law came with his flatbed trailer and winch and brought it over to their house a few miles away, then I put it on a dolly and hauled it up to Michigan. I had to use my garden tractor and a tow strap to get it into the barn, which is why it is at such a strange angle. The barn is still open at one side with minimal power, so I really won't be able to work on it this winter. But at least it is under roof for the first time since I bought it in 2011.

I’d love an MGB with a nice modern turbo 4 or 6 cylinder engine, but finding one that’s not rotten or full of bondo is a challenge. ;D

Good job  8)

I need to get the last of the air out of my clutch hydraulics so I can drive it. Then I can hopefully get started assembling the twin 10 to 1 compression hotrod motors for both GT's I started before I was diagnosed with cancer.

You know you can buy all of the sheet metal repair pieces stamped on the original tooling right?
You can also install GM 60° V6 motors and 5.0L Ford V8 motors with available kits as well as high end suspension systems at both ends.  8)

Thanks mate, I've spent too many years cutting out rust and replacing poorly fitting rust repair sections, so don't have any desire to do it again. ;D

Wow….. I did a “B” several years ago. Big project. Good luck.

This is a bigger project than it should be because I left it in the half finished state outside (mostly) under a cover for the past 7 years. But I plan to have it finished by Fall 2024.

Terry, I will be V6 swapping it. I have a full Pontiac Fiero 2.8 engine and harness I picked up a couple years back and a T5 5-speed from a mid 1990's Camaro. There is a company based in Minnesota that sells a conversion kit for this engine. My car has the factory electric overdrive transmission, which will sell for enough to cover the cost of the conversion. I'm going to do my best to retain the fuel injection the Fiero engine has, but have been told the throttle body position on this intake fouls on the hood (bonnet) and so might need to swap out to the Camaro intake setup. I hope to make it work because I really like the look of the Fiero intake. I don't have a picture of my engine, but here is a generic one. The Fiero on the intake is a sticker, so it will come off, and if I can make the intake work I can have MG machined in its place. I'll also color match it to my car.
