I fixed the steering on my 93' F 250 4x4 by replacing the inverted Y steering linkage with a center link style steering kit from Superlift. Now the tie rods swing in almost the same arc as the suspension parts. It totally eliminated the wandering and vagueness. The best part was the price of the kit was $50 less than new factory steering parts.

Kelly…. Said it before, say it again. Great looking Truck. Sadly my 1980 F350 is quietly rotting to pieces. No longer safe out on the road. Still plows the driveway (slow and careful), but not much else. I need to find one like yours!

Thanks guys, I bought it in 98' as the last pickup I'm buying. It's got 141k miles on it now. Next up for it is a new windshield, side window seals and new carpet. 8)

Kelly….. I ripped the original carpet/ mats out of mine about 15 years ago (pulled the seat out too). From some aftermarket place, I ordered a massive, one piece rubber mat that filled the entire cab floor. It was thick and compliant (smelt a lot like a new stack of tires for a while). It also came with a massive piece of insulation, cut to lay down first. It fit under the side tread plates and up under the dash too. Took a while to install, but still looks as good as new. Once a year I go in with a bucket of soapy water and give it a good scrub.

Probably missing a few bits of floor underneath, but inside the cab still looks great!

The shock absorbers in the LEXUS racer are triple adjustable competition units built by JRZ. They have a massive 22mm shafts and remote reservoirs. In addition to the shock oil, they are charged at +150 psi nitrogen too. Two them have leaks and lose their charge in one race day!

Discovered a wonderful shop just 1 hour away run by a fellow who has been building shocks and suspension for factory race bikes (mostly), off road vehicles, snow machines and race cars! Visited his fantastic shop today. Immaculate spot, about 1500 sq.ft. filled with high tech tools and equipment! The “shock dyno” was fascinating. Place was filled with new vehicles that the manufacturers have sent for evaluation and custom upgrade race parts. John was totally engaging and is able to help us. For some interesting reading, 99% motorcycle related, check out his website.

It's a diesel so the carpet and thick insulation is needed.

Yesterday was so lovely I pulled the Volvo C30 out of the shed (next to my shop). The battery was so low, I had to put a charger on it for 1/2 an hour. Started right up.

Today I went to use it and the battery was flat enough the door buzzer barely gave a squawk! My test light faded when hooked up. The charger didn’t even seem to recognize there was a battery connected. Weird.

Nothing $200 couldn’t fix. Terminals and mounts cleaned. New battery installed.

Joe….. there’s really nothing left to fix.the main frame members are “soft” end to end. I did the body & paint about 20 years ago, and that’s all going again too. Trucks just don’t last 45 years here, if they actually get used every winter…… I keep it dry and only use it for the driveway,so it may hold out for a bit longer.

If you look closely you’ll see a retired racing fuel cell in the back of the bed. The second fuel tank rotted through last winter! I picked that truck up the day it was new, so will keep it running as long as possible.

I got the race car trailer out early this year, the trans needs put back in, the starter grinding on the flexplate ring gear needs addressed and it's due for a chassis tag.

Threw a 02 sensor in yesterday and the truck runs better in the midrange but worse at idle. Also found a major exhaust leak so that's something to do with that.

Not this weekend, but last, I completed installing a 7 pin connector on my Lincoln MKT. U-Haul sells a conversion that plugs into your existing 4 pin connector and then has a 4-pin and 7-pin side-by-side. 2 weekends ago I did the basic install except for the brake controller and battery power wire. I ran the brake wire that connects to the controller into the passenger compartment, but stopped there.

I did some research and discovered that the port for the controller was already in place, including a 30 amp fuse. I ordered a pigtail adapter from Hopkins that works with my Hopkins controller and after some searching found the port. I confirmed that the wiring order was correct and connected the plug. Supposedly wiring is also run to the back of the vehicle, but since I had already run the blue wire (the out from the controller to the trailer brake) I just cut that one wire on the pigtail and connected it to the controller.

Now I can use a 4 pin connector for basic trailers and also bigger trailer with electric brakes. I put it to use the weekend I finished it to borrow my brother-in-law's 2 axle enclosed trailer to get the last of the big items out of my apartment and up to the house in Michigan.

Yesterday we installed the reupholstered seat into the 85' GMC S-15. It will be nice to not have to sit down on blistering hot vinyl seat this summer and freezing cold in the winter. She added an inch of foam to the original foam and it's never been more comfortable. I had it done in black cloth instead of blue vinyl because she couldn't find the right color of blue cloth. Other interior parts are black so it doesn't look bad.

My car club "overhauled" a 67 Chevelle for a guy in the hospital, we nabbed it from his garage and finished it so it could be waiting outside to surprise him when he was released to return home. What I remember about the car was the multiple colors of marina blue inside it, even new repro parts from the same vendor weren't the same blue. SS396, turbo 400, 12 bolt posi.
The car was stunning in spite of that. He passed away within the year but at least got to enjoy the car during the time he had left. The car was intended to stay in the family and go to one of the kids, his truck to the other kid. I don't know how that worked out, hopefully they were able to keep them.

My father in law gave me the truck before he passed in 06'. He bought it new in 85' and he loved the truck. I had already rebuilt the motor the year before he gave it to me. Neither of his sons cared about the truck at all, so he gave it to me. My son will get it when I'm done with it. 8)

I adjusted the valves in the dragster engine. I had backed off a few of the rockers because it wasn't going to be where I could spin it over and use different valve springs. I needed to test it after replacing the flexplate and re-shimming the starter. It spun well and didn't grind at all. It sounds a little loose to me, but this is better than failing to mesh and eating the teeth. Next up, install the fresh transmission and remove the body for the chassis inspector.
