Thick walnut boards?!  Did they cost more than the truck? ....15 years ago when I worked in the hardwood industry, Walnut was the top of a very pricey domestic food chain.

That will be nice Steve-O.  And should last a long time!

We're loading for a weekend of Super Comp drag racing. The older laptop battery took a poo so I'm trying to load the weather station software onto a newer one. It was turned off, so it decided to update when I re-started it. I'd like to move the old run data also but I'm not so computer literate. My driver is going to be put in charge of it.
Our tires came and are a softer compound, I hope that doesn't bite us when the track gets hot this summer. My late mentor thought they got slimy in the heat but Hoosier continues to make them so they must have a following. I've been working in the trailer to be sure all of the racecar tools got put back in it.
I considered taking a bike along to race but the wheel clamp must be removed every time the car goes in and out. That, and I'm a big chicken.

Ha...no, only 200 bucks from a local carpentry company.  It was actually a budget friendly option as the oak bed floor kit it around $600 shipped and would have looked way too nice for this "Rat Rod Truck"!!

I woke up thinking about our weekend racing, the car got steadily faster all weekend. The last time I saw something like this we had sucked an intake gasket. I think the answer is to close the intake valves, plate off the carburetor spacer and put a vacuum or low pressure air test on it. It's difficult to do because the intake springs are so strong you have to rotate the engine to where there is valve lash before loosening anything. The open pressure is well over 500 pounds at .830 lift.
It has newer cylinder heads that haven't been consistent since putting them on. I can't help wondering if there is a misalignment in the intake to cylinder head fit-up, they made the intake bolt holes wrong, we had to slot those holes so that might be part of it too.

My driver won a couple rounds on skill, she pedaled it to a perfect 8.900 run at 155 mph, that's 20 slower that it can go. On another race she had a .001 reaction time to her opponents .003, that's two drivers on set on kill. I actually expected him to go red based on our earlier run.

Almost ready for paint. Found a really good, two part marine epoxy repair kit that glued the splintered corner of the composite hood nicely back together. It takes 24-36 hours to cure, but sets up well and is easy to sand and shape. Used it to repair a few small cracks in the bumper skin too (from a +150K miles car). Hood corner needs a bit more work, then paint.

I wish. Body work and going to the dentist. Not my favourite. Prepping the front cross member and it’s too cold to apply paint or primer! Need to rub down the primered stuff next, assuming the water bucket doesn’t freeze over!

Been working on the 1946 Ford truck a bit.

Got all the wiring sorted with the help of a buddy so I have turn signals and brake lights now.  The PO used a marine fuel tank just sitting in the bed, got rid of that and fitted an early Mustang tank down between the frame [a common mod for these old trucks].  Had to reroute the exhaust, a local muffler shop did it for cheap, I kept the old "cherry bombs"!  PO used a piece of plywood for the bed of the truck, trashed that and bought some thick, rough cut walnut boards and am currently fitting those...

Finished cutting and sealing the boards for the '46 Ford bed.   Used a clear oil stain, best looking part of the truck now!   Checked my receipt, it is indeed "rustic walnut".  I now need to just screw them down and fit the fuel tank cap, I bought a Cobra flip up type.

Sweated a tube into a flat golf cart wheel assembly that I should have thrown away! The combo was full of rusty “green slime”. That stuff works for a while, but what a mess. Had to pull it right off to clean up.

There are four spilt tires stacked in the barn, time to start searching for some better ones. The carts around here all have big wheels and tires, so not too hard to find “originals”……..

I waited just a tad bit too long to finally have a look at the front brakes on my 2010 F150.

i bought my 2009 toro xl440h ride on mower bought ten years ago,it has a hydrogear hydrostatic drive, sealed for life bull#$%* etc,ive changed its oil couple of times by removing the whole thing and upside down draining it from the fill port, bit of a chore, theres no real flat low area to make a proper drain plug fit, even on forums it cant be done?i have a spare unit so opened it up without dissembling the guts and decided I can do it,i simply drilled and chamfered a hole into one of the case bolt holes, added a copper washer and done, itll be a slow drain but better than pulling the entire unit ever again,it only uses 20/50 motor oil in the rear end, takes about 1.8 litres.

Dave….. we have a Craftsman ride on with the same nonsense. Our’s has no provision for checking or adding oil. How did you decide the quantity to pour back in?

Dave,I thought you originally said that your unit came with no plug:you were still able to fill it somehow?
