LEXUS ran like a freight train. Friday morning practice we scrubbed in a new set of "rains" and two new sets of Firestones. The afternoon "warm up" race was 4 hours. We finished 5th overall and 1st in our class. Saturday was cold, miserable, and rained 90% of the day. The Rain Tires were a success and amongst a snarl of all wheel and front wheel drive competition, we managed a 2nd in class. More importantly, no damage and nothing broken.
Sunday was cold and very windy, but sunshine. We traded places with a Nissan Sentra Cup car and after eight hours our winning margin was LESS THAN 8 SECONDS...... Totally exhausted, but had a great time.
Tim drove the last 2 hour session on Sunday and was brilliant. He beat me for FTD but one of our Team (data driven driver) calculated that when he added up all our 50 best lap times (by driver), I still managed to be almost 35 seconds further down the road than the others. “Old age and cunning beats youth and exuberance”.
