how's my new helmet?
« on: March 06, 2018, 09:22:12 AM »

my first impression was that it is huge. it's that normal? is it? I've actually a large head over my slender 160lb 5'10" body and got an XXL and it's snug but man I look like an alien lol. I actually got another helmet at first earlier and returned it aa it also seemed huge but it was a 3/4 one so I ultimately decided on a full. what do you think? Who usually where's XXL's? + 200lb people?

The cranium is proportional to you brain size... i.e. a Big Head on a small body isn't abnormal lol... it looks ok on you, but hey... don't get a big head from what I say!  ???

well thanks for the 'big head' compliment then. Maybe thats the way of evolution, big brain carrying bowls over ever shrinking useless bodies and I'm leading the way, but I've got to start doing smarter things with all this brain matter I apparently have.

here's my head:

nothing too abnormal looking no? no one's ever told me 'hey buddy, you've got quite a large head'. eh... whatever

please, put that helmet back on  ;D

anyway, choose a helmet type and size that fits you well. snug but without pressing or hurting. if that's an XXL, so be it. nothing wrong with that.

ouch!

okay, I'm taking off a star in my review for the fact that you cannot chew dead skin off your chapped lips in cold weather because the padding squishes your cheeks. Try it. if you can you're lucky. if not, it's a maddening paralyzing sensation. otherwise it's an awesome helmet. looks better with jacket right?

oh, and I've got a cold so I'm sneezing right back up my nose lol. I guess that is inherent in the design, so I won't mark it off

and can't seem to hook the helmet to the holder on the bike unless it's upside down on just one of those D rings. so what if it rains? for now a bag but would be much easier to let it sit up

Helmet sizes in L XL or XXL do not mean anything. I usually select a size by the size in inch or cm if it is given, and then decide after I try it on. That's why I have never bought a helmet on-line. Usually, the AGVs come out a tad smaller and the HJCs a tad larger.
My Schuberth is an XXL, two of my AGVs are Ls, two HJCs are XLs. Go figure.

It should fit snug. You should have to tug down on it. Your cheeks should move up and down with it.

It should fit snug on the sides and you should be able to push your index and middle finger into the helmet at your forehead without much resistance. Otherwise you run the risk of getting a headache.

my first impression was that it is huge. it's that normal? is it? I've actually a large head over my slender 160lb 5'10" body and got an XXL and it's snug but man I look like an alien lol. I, too, require an XXL.  I'm 6'3" but on top of that, I just have a large head.  But you know what- nobody notices.  Nobody is paying any attention to you or me.

Plus, it's more motivation to make your bike super rad.  If the bike is a head-turner, nobody is going to be looking at your helmet.

And if you can't afford to turn the bike into a head-turner, just start riding with your butt crack sort of showing and people will focus down there and not on your head.
