Harley Sprint road race bike
« on: March 06, 2018, 08:46:06 PM »
The guy that does my machine work is also the mechanic and owner of these Harley Sprint road race bikes. Dave Roper is the rider. He's one sharp guy, used to have a machine shop, does everything out of his garage now.
thanks, Mark

Nice! Looks like a little Honda engine, I wonder who stole who's design? The Harley Sprints were Aermacchi's, the same Italian company that made aircraft, so pretty good quality. I'd like one. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)

The engine has been totally reworked, I forgot all the mods he told me he did. One of the bikes, the main bike uses Fontana Front Brake , which I believe its as good as you get without going to disc.

They stopped having vintage racing at Sonoma Raceway , but added two more in the northwest, one near Portland and another in Washington. They also race in Utah on, I think, Labor Day weekend. Willow Springs in April. They only race these bikes on the west coast, Dave may ride other races but not on this bike. Never meet Dave, but here is cool video, he loves the sport.

I have seen roper race that bike a couple times.  Does not look very fast... roper just doesn't ever brake

Hell yeah, ahrma racing is racing at a track near many.  Go check it out, if you can.  Pits are open and racers are friendly and love to talk about bikes.
