LED question
« on: March 07, 2018, 03:42:49 PM »
Simple question... I think.

Could I wire these directly in place of the idiot lights on my CB350F, or would they need a power supply?

+1 ^^^^^ what Cal said. They work well, and give the reliability of many hours before failure.

why wouldn't you just use LED bulbs in your existing cluster? I think LED's are wasted on idiot lights since they only rarely light up.  I have an LED headlight,  tail light, guage lights,  and front running/ turn signal lights. I didn't bother with the rear turn or warning lights.

I bought a CB77 bucket with integral speedo/tach a while ago. It has a blue "high" lens/bulb in the bucket, as well as the high beam switch. The original lens is a 10mm bolt style. I'm considering drilling out the lens and switch holes to 12mm, putting two more holes in between, and using these 12mm bolt LEDs. Rewire idiot lights to the bucket, and replace the idiot dash with clean bar clamps. Pics below. There's also a red lens at the top center of the gauge, so I could use that for oil pressure and put turn/neutral/high on the bucket.

One wrinkle is the gauge mounts on the triple top. I was thinking I could buy a spare and just grind them off.
