Sadly, the creator of Easy Rider has died
Peter Fonda has left the building.
I am not really a fan of choppers but the movie was fun.

His Ray Ban sunglasses in that movie will be more popular now I guess.
Older we'll get more people we know will pass away, hopefully before ourselves except for generations younger.

 It was a movie that made a lot of guys want to have a chopper ,and ride across the vast expanses of America.
 It was  gamechanger.. RIP Peter Fonda..

I did not care for the ending either. Great movie for the cycle buff teenager I was at at time.

Was sad to see that Peter died. Remember seeing Easy Rider when first came-out.  Seemed a bit melodramatic to me..but ground breaking in terms of biker..psychedelic..anti-establishment messaging.  [I'd recently been discharged from Navy during Viet Nam period..so wasn't too impressed with the anti-establishment stuff Peter..Dennis Hopper..Jack Nicholson seemed concerned about Seemed a bit naïve to me BTW].  I actually felt..still do..that that pic showed a relatively positive view of biker culture (compared to many outlaw biker themes of the times).

Perhaps another pic that Peter did "Eulie's Gold"..believe in late 90's..was more meaningful to me.  Since I've kept bees pretty much all my life..I found Eulie's Gold to be much more believable/relevant to me personally. Think Peter's creative talents will be missed..even though he didn't make many movies.

+++1: it inspired 10 SOHC riders from around the globe to meet up in LA and follow in the footsteps of the movie: we went to the jail, the airport scene, New Mexico, we even went to the site of the diner in LA which is now a church  8). We even went to Mardis Gras and did the cemetery scene  8).

It was a great way to connect with other SOHC riders. RIP Peter Fonda and Axl the Satanic Mechanic who was so inspired by the journey. Check out Day 14 in the link below to see Tim2005, Axl and myself with Chris and Stevie.

As a teen, I had two posters up in my room. They are both long gone, but one was of Peter Fonda on a chopper. I kinda remember a springer front end and PF. It must have been this bike but a different angle for the shot.

The second was a CB750 ad from Honda. Again, this is not the poster, but it was done in the same style.

I also found this song recently and added it to a playlist I made. The Ballad of Easy Rider took me right on back to my youth: Thank you Peter Fonda and Roger McGuinn.
