"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of it's victim may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. Lewis

Here's a copy and paste of the PM that he sent to me.
He lives in the UK but I'm not sure where.

I PM'd another forum member with this and he suggested I refer to you. This is the email. Can you help? If you can't, any ideas?

Hi there, I saw some of your posts and thought you may (please) be able to answer a question, as you seem to have had a transmission stripped down?

I have a 76 completely disassembled, with the intention of doing a full rebuild. When I stripped the transmission, I found the stop pin for the return spring on the kick start had been torn out of the casing. I tried to figure out how this could have happened and ended up with the idea that the device in the assembly on the mainshaft, which incorporates the input shaft for the torque converter, two cogs and what looks like a sprag clutch between the two gears.

The two gears are locked together, which doesn't make sense, as that would mean the kick start gear would be ratcheting all the time (the pawl IS very worn). It would also mean you can't turn the motor backwards, if the stop pin were refitted (after some welding).

I can't find anyone who has worked on one of these or has a part to compare. Can you help, or do you know who may be able to? I can send a photo or diagram of the part, if that would help.

Not to worry Pop's, he hasn't been back to the forum since he asked for help.
I don't know the guy but he lives somewhere in the UK and after sending me a PM asking for help, he has never got back to me after I replied to him, but thanks for the offer anyway.

WILBER: All the 750 SOHC I have are HONDAMATIC'S = Not broken motors and one head that has been open up and new seal and clean as a pin all valves cleaned and seats polished, no broken fins. One motor broken fins but ran fine [1976] frames and wheels but I have to keep tanks and side covers.
