Moving ahead. I was able to motivate myself this evening to do some work on the dragbike engine. I put sealer under the block and pushed it onto the top case. I also put sealer on both sides of the copper head gasket and dropped the cylinder head on top of the block. I got the head torqued to specs and decided to stop at this point. Tomorrow evening I intend to drop both cams in and then degree them in. Theoretically, I shouldn't have to move the cams around on the adjustable sprockets to get my preferred lobe center since I didn't do any major changes to the parts, or geometry of the top end. 110/110 LC works well for this engine and the type racing I typically do with this bike. Its best to take the time now to verify the numbers while the engine is out on the table and not in the frame.
I added a 1-2 auto, 5 speed KZ transmission to the engine this time around to help lower my ET. I'm shooting for low to mid 5.50's in the 1/8th mile and 8.80's-90's in the 1/4 mile. I may have to play with the sprocket gearing to net those projected numbers. We'll see.
