Have been fiddling with this on/off for a few months. It’s a first year low-vin GL1000 (9xxx VIN).

This one is lovely and has really been looked after over the years.

Was covered in ‘period’ pinstripes that I’ve been carefully removing over several weeks to get back to stock.

Carb job / brake overhaul next then ready for the road (belts already done).

Looking for a rear grab rail and seat mounting brackets if anyone has some??

 Very nice,  DSS has a nice repro grab rail. I put one on the 79 I sold, that bike may deserve oem, although I couldn't tell the DSS from original. I'm still not a fan of the tall handlebars on my 78, I may swap on a set of 77 750 bars.

Thanks Don. Yeah I need the rail with the second under-slung mounts for the rear indicators...shame DSS doesn’t do both..appreciate you posting the link..

Try Sirus Consolidated in Canada as they also sell the repro grab rails and I think they have the early ones too.

Sell In US and offer competitive shipping to the south.

l love my  naked 77 wang James so I  know you will love your 75! Smooth, powerful and quite. At the time the only faster production bike was the Z1 I think.

 The only problem I've had with the 78/79's I've owned is at 80 mph speed limits on a 900 mile ride I feel like there should be another gear. Some guys have swapped in 1100 rear gears but that's a bit extreme and far from a bolt in.

If that rail is not claimed Mr Palepainter, I would be very keen to purchase it from you.
Had a 75 GL1000 as my first road bike and now ride a 2014 GL1800.
My son has just purchased the 75 GL 1000 I used to ride and it is missing this rail as the PO had fitted a side chair to it.
I can be contacted on brett.boyle@dia.govt.nz or my son on kurtandamanda@kitchenstudio.co.nz.
These are fantastic machines.
