Does anyone have parts for a 750A transmission?
« on: March 19, 2018, 10:34:56 am »
I can't find out if the twin cog assembly with sprag clutch is faulty or not. So I may just have to try and buy a replacement and see what that one is like. I have the bike completely stripped down, ready for rebuild, but can't assemble the transmission until I find this part. I have repaired the damage to the case, which I believe was caused by this part. I hope all my work has not been for nothing and I have to junk the bike!! Any help much appreciated.

Maybe I should have stuck to rebuilding standard transmission 750's?!

My friend Pat has two CB750A engines on the shelf that were runners when he pulled them, if replacing the engine is an option, I could ask him what he would like for one. He has two complete CB750A's in his warehouse also. No sense in junking the bike if engines are available!

I am most grateful for your reply (the only one so far). A complete, known-good, engine would be fantastic. Only problem is the I am in the UK!! (What would the shipping cost???!!) Hence the problem, as there are almost no 750A's over here. I have two "normal" 750's and thought it would be nice to complement the collection with an unusual "A". I have been asking some US breakers if they would check the function of the part in question. I would buy a complete gear set (as they won't split one) if I knew the one they have works as I think it should. Sadly, they don't seem willing to assist in doing that check, before I send them the cash.
I don't mind paying for what I need - I just would prefer not to buy something that won't fix the problem.
Thanks, once again.

Steele's is in the Denver, CO area. They have a yard here and something in the UK. They ship containers over.

The original poster is in the U.K. However, I am six hours away from Columbus and currently restoring a '76. I'll try to send a private message to avoid hijacking this thread.

Pops, I'm going to have to come up there at some point to see what you have stashed away.
