Honda CB500 Four K Carb Replace?
« on: June 12, 2018, 12:12:20 PM »
I have been working on my CB for a few summers now and I hit a roadblock in the rebuild.  the float area of the carbs is all eaten up and some of the parts don't hold in and the float pins never close and gas leaks...  my questions is..  can I get a newer year carb rack from a different/newer year Honda and use those? or do they need to be exact year/model?

Most of the early year 500/550 carbs are somewhat interchangeable. Say up to ‘76 possibly depending upon the market you’re in. You do want to avoid “PD” model carbs as they are rather different than yours likely are.

There is a member here in the States, Jim French, who offers a laser-based micro welding service to rebuild and repair those float posts. His fees are very reasonable, though I’m sure shipping would be the bulk of the bill.

The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S.
