Usually about 1 1/2-2 I think.

If you are thinking carb, then start with the float level,  could have gotten stuck when it came off.

I suppose it could be. If the plugs are wet (which they are) could be an issue.

I've decided to take my LH cover off again. The first time I kicked it is putter ed and ran rough then died. Wondering if the woodruff key fell off or got screwed up when I put on the stator

Wow that looks like a pretty good site for that CA95, probably get much better answers than my foggy memory guessing! But I still want to read that it lives.

So right after kids went to bet I pulled cover and low and behold a small chunk of woodruff key had broken off and was sitting behind stator. Guessing it wasn't sitting right on there. Time to readjust points ad timing and see what happens.

You got me on the edge of my seat now, you can do it, you can do it, you can do it!!!! That's my cheer leader impersonation.

If that is a taper fit on the stator (most likely is) make sure the taper surfaces on both pieces is clean with no burrs. That can affect the fit and make it wobble ever so slightly and continue to shear the keys. I had a dirt bike that would throw the flywheel about every 1 1/2 races until my buddy fixed it for me. Maybe wipe it with some emery paper ever so lightly them clean it up before installing.

Well pat yourself on the back!!! Congrats.

What model 305 do you have? I love the sound of an open pipe scrambler, one of the sweetest sounding motors Honda ever made.

Are you familiar with the 305 forum? They have some pretty knowledgeable members over there. Not as much traffic as here, but a good site.

I need a little more help.

So when I put it all back together the starter wouldn't go. Could kick it fine.

So got a new batt yesterday, filled installed etc. It a 6bnb from the fleet farm store.

So the sol clicks all seems well. I measured the voltage that is reaching the starter and it's at like 3 volts. I also tried a direct connect to the battery to starter and nothing.

Do I maybe have a battery without enough crank?

Check the grounding of the ground strap from the battery to the engine mounting bolt holds it against the frame. Is there clean metal there? Check and clean all connections from battery>solenoid>starter.

Will do.

The battery I bought is 6v 6a, but it's supposed to be a 6v12a. I ordered a new one.
