After seeing this bike next to a showroom condition cb500 I realized it needs a good detailing. I'm going to wet sand the paint and buff it out then clean everything. I painted the center of the dyno cover to help pretty it up, I'm not so happy with it.

Don, before you go as drastic as wet sanding try some clay bar then buff. A good over the counter compound is McGuire's ultimate compound. You can use it by hand but waaaaay better with a dual action buffer with an orange pad, then switch to a black pad. The really good stuff is McGuire's 101, then follow up with 205. But that is a lot of money to spend on products for one bike. If you were on the left coast I could help you out.

Thanks, I'll keep all of that in my plan. I should have mentioned it's a repaint and has a little orange peel. I do need to buy new pads for my buffer. I opened the box after a long time and none were in it.

I sold the 400F to a gent near Chicago. Down to around 14 bikes. Still too many.

I can't keep up with fresh fuel and batteries. I never wear out tires, they dry rot first. I'm trying to weed it down to 3 K0's, a drag bike for show and a gl 1000 to ride. 3 plates is my personal limit though. Maybe 4 if I go to antique plates.

I did, that bike was a keeper but I had to make room for another K0 750. You're welcome on the fairing, I hope you made good use of it. Hondaman was looking for one a while back too.
I'm willing to bet the ride home was an epic road trip. If you ever write the story, I'd love to read it.

The trailer behind the bike was a different experience.. I need to remeber to see the shape of the road surface and look far ahead for navigating that rig clearly otherwise the weight of the trailer would like to take over. The ride was a good learning experience,it taught me a few things, one is keep pulling the trailer rather than let it push me.
The ride coming downhill on I80W out of Truckee,CA. has a lot of switchbacks and trucks have done a job on the asphalt over the years, very ripply pavement.I was tired and rode down that at night with the trailer pushing from behind on those curves: I developed some 'bike handling skills' that I didn't have before  :D

I let the seller know it just had plugged up carb jets and he sounded heartbroken. He would have been happier to have sold it to me with a dead engine. L0L.

I was looking at CB400F posts and noticed not all of my pics are visible. I know more about it now.
You can't keep them all, but I miss this one.
I liked the Honda emblem under the headlight, it covers some busywork in the mounting, plumbing and wiring. The euro headlight and switch opened my eyes to a few how's and why's Honda wiring harnesses.

I miss the Dog more than the bike, I was shocked to hear his mother is still alive. He died at 7 from bad dog food and his mother is now 14 years old.

Hi Don,I still have the fairing from it which you offered to me and I picked up from your house back in 2018.I would like to have had a little more time to visit with you but needed to head back as I was on a temporary one-way paper DMV pass from Ca. to go from Mi. to Ca. and get the bike back, then plate it.The fairing is still in my storage waiting as a spare. thanks,Bill  :)
