CB400F Conrod numbers mixed up
« on: April 11, 2021, 11:39:09 PM »
Morning folks,

Thanks for adding me to the fantastic resource.

First question: During crankshaft cleaning and checking at the local engineering workshop, the con rods got mixed up and left out of the bags I had put them in.  I have two number, 2 and two number 1.

All markings on the crankshaft have disappeared, so I have no way of telling which weighted rod fits where on the shaft. Does anybody have any clue where to start with a solution for this?

Thanks

IIRC crank setings are on the rear end of the bottom engine casing.

The casing marks are for the casing, crank marks should be there if you have not had the crank polished/lightened if you have take it back to the shop and tell them you need accurate measurements of every pin down to 0.001mm.
If the numbers are still on rods for size you can then work out which shells you need(there should be a letter and a number on the rod, one is size one is weight and all 4 should be same weight as they are NOY selected for balance)
