hear you all guys but i for one, have had excellent experience with cheapo Akunar "made in malaysia" pistons in my 500/4 racer, they still hold way better than a known "made in japan" brand.
Rene raced his fast 500/4 on 35$ no-name monkey bike pistons too.
I would understand comments if they were coming from direct hands-on negative experience with them. But as terry shows too, it's not like they will melt after one run.
if today honda, bmw, triumph, etc. make complete engines in taiwan, india, philippines, it means that all the network of component suppliers is up to good standards.
Ric, with these being street pistons with surely low crowns, my concern would be if you will be able to get the desired compression ratio and squish area with them.... not so sure
