There is a guy on here who says he did it on his cafe.  You would probably need the rear brake lever and a longer or shorter shift rod.

That's what I've done with my 550. It sets the pegs back 4.5-5", raises them .5" and by modifying the 400 bracket and using F3 aluminum pegs tucks them in .5" also.  I'm using the 400 brake lever (needed to heat and bend to fit) relocated the brake light switch to the inside of the frame. (although not necessary)  I went with a GSXR aluminum shift lever, (to use the Suzuki part the shifter rod needs to be modified) but you can use the 400 parts.

If your interested I can take a couple pics tomorrow, of a 400F and the conversion to the 500/550

It is almost a bolt-on job on a CB550K (the CB550F has a different frame).   You will need to slightly extend the threaded rod between the shift lever and the shaft shaft "link".  Also, you should plan on using a CB550F kickstart lever....it has a little extra offset to clear the right side footpeg after the peg is folded up.  I don't recall having to do any heating/bending on the brake pedal, BUT....due to the shorter pedal length, you'll either need to use the 400F brake pedal pivot shaft, or drill a new hole in the 550 pivot shaft for the brake rod to attach about an inch lower than stock (to regain the proper mechanical advantage).

I'm more than a little embarrased how these pictures turned out, but you'll have to trust me when I say it will all turn out great when powdercoating, paint, polishing..... you get the drift. I need to light a fire under my ass to get this baby done!

The 400F setup is not a direct bolt on, but not terribly difficult either.  The footpeg locating pins on the 500/550K frame need to be shortened slightly.

The 400 shifter shaft lever will contact the 500 sprocket cover, (the 400 cover is indented in this spot) the cover could be modified to avoid the contact.  I think it's cleaner to relocate everything to the underside of the lever. ie cut off the tab on the lever & reweld inverted.

I made a 400 brake lever work by just heating & bending to fit, and will need to be rechromed. The original arm could also be shortened & made to work. I'm not using a kickstart so removed all those components.

The footpegs end up directly under the swingarm pivot, and directly under the riders mass, which helps in shifting weight on the pegs side to side. (rechecked, 4''back, .5" higher, and tucked in 1+") Rear sets that attach to the original REAR footpeg location are to far back for my comfort. Too much pressure on the boys on a long ride!

With the aluminum pegs the weight is somewhat less than the original setup, but certainly not as light as purpose built rearsets. I had all the goodies here and one thing led to another.

One pic is the complete 400 shifter assy & peg on the 500, the other two are what I've ended up with. Sorry for the length of all this.
