Love to see what you end up doing on the 550... it didnt come from eBay with a buckled front wheel did it?

     MD,  the summer has been a scorcher so far, plenty of days at 40 odd and the humidity is a killer, reminds me of when I worked in Darwin for a while, no wonder I have a few loose screws.

              I am over at Carlton and fiddle around in the garage doing these old Jap bikes up, keeps me out of the pub.
No it wasn't from eBay, I didn't see that one it was on the CEMCC website a guy on the central coast had it and was outside under a sheet or blanket for around 3 years. He was pretty crook so flogged it of to me, full of rust, dents, seized nearly everything but anyway that's the way I like them. I will be keeping it stock well the best I can and should be finished in a couple of months.
Your bike will end up like that 400 all you need is, plenty of patience, time and elbow grease.   Andy

OK.. sounds a bit like the one I missed on eBay from down your way.. badly buckled front wheel, a cut off broomstick for handlebars and it was locked up and couldn't be turned over with the kickstart... and it sold for A$1850.00
My 400 is a little bit better than that

I at least know where to turn for anything I cant find on the 400 now. Looking forward to seeing your 550 in the project area. I have a little Yamaha to finish before I can get into the 400... if I can keep my hands off it that is.

Nice little bike Andy, the blue is awesome. Was the collector patched if so how was that done?

Hi FuZZie,
                  Yes I repaired the collector box, it had a big rip, dent and scratches where you can see the repair. I applied a bit of heat and levered it out as much as I could, a little bit of a grind to ruff things up then filled what was left with JB weld, sanded that back and sprayed some heat resistant chrome paint ( poor excuse for chrome ) over the wound, it was obvious as you can see but better than it was. I thought of making one but did the repair first and wasn't too bad so left it. I do the bikes up to be used not looked at so I was happy with that.   Andy

It's pretty common for them, I had to weld a patch into the underside of mine. Used the same paint scheme as you.

Hi,  here is the latest addition to the garage, turned out pretty good, they certainly are a nice smooth bike, plenty of get up and go. It is a great feeling to turn a rusted, seized engine, wreck into something that it looked like back in the seventies.
