Please help.. I hope this didn’t happen
« on: April 14, 2018, 04:34:28 PM »
Hey All,

Just doing routine maintence and I decided to adjust my Cam chain tension on my 350f.

I was finicking around and loosened the actual bolt all the way out. What ever tension I had set was then completely loosened... ever since I did that the bike will not start.

It will lug and I’m pretty sure that’s because the tension is super loose but what I am afraid That happened is that it got so loose that the chain went off the sprocket and is now just on the bar. Has this ever happened to anyone else ?
now I’m having to put pressure on the spring and then tighten the bolt but I haven’t had any success yet getting it started.

Pretty upsetting, maybe I just haven’t put enough pressure and tightened right?

Can the chain not come off the sprocket and I’m just freaking out?

It is possible it jumped off the sprocket, I would imagine it would be making an credible noise or freezing up tho.

Just take off the tensioner and put it back together, re-set. If that doesn't work you'll need to pull the cam cover and see.

Don't panic.

I keep on picking and picking with the bike and creating a problem when there isn’t  :-\
I’ve got a video shoot with it tomorrow and if I don’t fix it before I’m screwed lol.

I’m going to remove that little piece of the frame to get more leverage. It isn’t grinding or anything just super loose.. I’m pretty sure I can hear the loose chain.

When you mean take off the tensioner that’s just loosening it and re applying pressure and tightening right?

If you’re not sure the cam chain is on, just remove a valve adjustment cap and see if the rockers move when you kick the engine over. No cam chain = no top end movement.

If that video is considered normal than I’m good because mine is super quiet but I’m still a little nervous about hearing the cam chain. Fresh rebuild.

This on 750s and maybe yours, if you loosen the bolt, even pull it right out....... that does not mean the tensioner will move.. it may or may not.
