Outrageous request - The massively good karma thread
« on: February 19, 2018, 08:48:09 AM »
Gang,

I have been mighty scarce, and I must say I miss my favorite motorcycle community, so "Hi, I miss you". Things are going great for me and so I shall not complain.

Things are not going so great for a couple of guys here, and I beg your forbearance if I do not share the private details of the situation, but I am flat out asking for a fairly outrageous act of kindness on the part of two people, maybe more. Two guys here got hosed, through no fault of their own, and although it had nothing to do with me, I'd like to help them get put straight.

I need two sets of decent rebuildable carbs. One for a 74 CB750, and another for a CB350F. I will disassemble these and vapor blast them, and get all of the steel replated. I'll get new gaskets and orings for them and rebuild them.

Update - Bill Benton is giving me a set of 750 carbs. Now I just need the 350/400 carbs.

If you have something on the shelf and feel like making someone's day, please help. If you want to pitch in for the cost of the gaskets and shipping, that's awesome.

You can email me at nils@restocycle.com or PM me here. Thanks in advance for anything you can do.

Best,

Nils

Ahh crap, I can’t believe this, I literally just gave away a 74 set of 750 carbs and a pair of 350Fs locally... they’re out there, I’m sure someone will help out.

Update:

Bill Benton is giving me a set of 750 carbs, because he's like that. If you need nice SOHC parts at a fair price, please remember Bill Benton being there for the community, and see him first. Bill, you're awesome, thank you so much.

I am still ISO a set of carbs for a 350F or 400F. I'll pitch in the shipping and vapor blast and ultrasonic them. I'll use donations to pay for new rubber parts and gaskets, and maybe offset my shipping expense if we get that far. I've got a local pal more experienced than me, I will pressgang him into helping me with the reassembly and like this we will straighten out a couple of guys that are currently hosed through no fault of their own.

Anybody need a little boost to their karma bank?

Nils,
I asked Pat and he doesn't have any spare CB350F or CB400F carbs laying around, sorry.

With big thanks to Bill Benton and CBJoe, we did get a set of carbs put together and hopefully a guy's bike will shortly be back on the road. Many thanks to this excellent community for pitching in as always.
