i have a feeling they may have gone by mistake, fling me a pic and i'll diagnose the situation, i was missing one i was looking for y'day but i assumed it had just been eaten by the goblins that lurk in my dungeon ( either that or i've put it somewhere else )

A friend has a Honda Super Blackbird 1997 without fairing. Other bar clamps for normal handle bar.
Look OK with stock exhaust. But he cannot use full speed since the wind is too strong from 220kph.
He checked the bike on Dyno, 133 on the wheel still home.

yeah, i've clocked close on 250kmh on the vmax a few times ( on closed roads only of course officer ) and it is distinctly uncomfortable but at the same time .....what a hell of a thrill. at those speeds you're pulling a 100M every one and a half seconds

Got the motor back together today,not too hard as Terry did most of the complicated stuff, just oil and water pumps them sump
Got the seat all cleaned and treated this week courtesy of the car detailing department at work
Found the headlight is screwed, little stone chip blew out inside , new one $200 local or $80 eBay UK
Also seemed like a good idea to put new sump plug washers on, one was ok, the other one not so much

Tomorrow the plan is to derust, clean and paint the exhaust
And give all the oil pipes and such a clean and flush

And while I'm at it the rear wheel from the VMAX needs finishing and painting so I can get that back on its wheels and off the bike lift so the big ZZR can go on the lift to start putting back together

Well today was a productive sort of the thing, checked the cam timing after a suggest by Terry, all seemed well,
Reinstalled the water pump to cylinder pipework after a clean up and repaint of the metal pipe bit
Took the rear peg/ exhaust mounts apart for a clean and refurb, got them looking much better
Derusted the pipes ready to repaint later in the week

Maybe more beer is the answer

Have been using a nylon wheel on my mini grinder to remove crap/corrosion from parts

It's soft enough that it doesn't remove any metal but tough enough to get rid of dirt and corrosion.

Check before and after of alloy footpegs

Before is the left one which is dull and somewhat tarnished, whereas the right one is in its freshly brushed goodness. Are you using a pink or blue nylon string wheel Spotty?

Had a most pleasant day, forgot to go to work, took the dogs for a nice walk, then got stuck into some zzr'ing

Pressure washed the bike and all the bodywork, stripped a the little bits of fairing off the big bits and put them through the dishwasher

Painted the headers on the exhaust ( did them in potbelly spray paint in charcoal metallic just to be different) and will polish the chrome mufflers when they're dry enough to handle

Built a proper work bench out in the carport so I don't have to keep carrying stuff up to the under-house dungeon to do stuff

Painted the vmax back wheel so I can get it off the bike lift and get the zzr on there, just got to put the rim stripes on to match the front and slap the new bearings in as soon as the paint is dry ( and out the disc back on and reassemble the drive side where the shaft/diff stuff attached )

Having had a closer look at the zzr I might end up pulling the swingarm to check bearings and give a proper clean and repaint. Also rear caliper seems to be dragging so that may need new seals

Front end needs new seals anyway so while that's out, check steering head and wheel bearings and repaint sliders

Frame needs a couple of touch-ups and the fairing has some issues with cracking and a couple of tabs broken off

And the new headlight

And change the 4 piston front calipers for 6 piston ones

And possibly investigate a superbike bar conversion, it's only about $125 and works with the fairing still on

And tyres...

And...

And....

In the meantime it's beer o'clock

Also yesterday I asked one of the car detailers at work if I could bring in a jar and scrounge some autosol ( I would buy it but Matt Black paint is cheaper ), he gave me a half full kilo tin,
Should last me about 3 lifetimes.......

Now try and post and see how many pics it'll let me do today

Woohoo! Looks great Spotty, and even more naked-er than I remember! It looks like the project swap has given you a new lease on life! Don't take too many dodgy days off work though, that might piss someone off, whose not as keen on ZZR's as you.

engine in one piece now

the idea is to reduce the amount of parts in the plastic tubs instead of adding to them

gotta try and restrain myself from over thinking it and getting too detailed, otherwise i'll end up stripping it right down , just get it clean and safe then registered

then maybe i can give the vmax some loving that its sort of missed out on for a couple of years while i've tried to keep it on the road

Now that's what I call organised! I'll be back in Melbourne around lunch time, so hopefully I'll get a couple of hours of spanner Twirling on the Swamp Rat in before it gets dark. I wish I had a pen and notebook now, so I could write a "to do" list on my boring 5 hour flight home.....
