Wiring Help Needed
« on: June 18, 2018, 12:51:06 PM »
Hello All,

I'm rewiring a 1971 Honda CB750 and don't have the OEM wiring to use as a reference but I've got OEM wiring diagrams.

The trouble I'm having is how to connect a new Rick's Honda Regulator Rectifier. Rick's provides a wiring diagram but the Honda wires are all the same color.

In the attached image, are those two connectors on the left for the the Field Coil? If so, both are black, how do I determine which is positive and negative?

The three on the right are the 3-Phase AC Outputs?? I believe these are the 3 yellow wires in the diagram that get connected to the 5-way mating connector of the new Reg/Rec.

If so, does it matter which order those are attached to the three yellow AC Inputs? If it does matters, how can I determine the correct connection?

How would you wire the Black +12 DCV Feed?

I have the Red DV Positive of the 5-way connected to the Universal Starter Solenoid from Revival Cycles.

Thanks much for any help,
Enc

Thanks for the reply, calj. I really appreciate the help.

Although, I'm still a little unsure of how to proceed with the Black Wire off the Rick's Reg/Rec.

The RR from Ricks, the Black wire was part of the Regulator and needs to provide the battery status to the Regulator. Pick a section of the stock wiring BLACK where it used to connect to the Regulator, and splice it in.

I don't have any stock wiring to use. The battery and starter solenoid have been replaced, and I'm using a Motogadget M-Unit Blue. I'm not sure of what you mean by "battery status." Does the black wire be spliced to a ground?

Anyone able to help identify what this guy needs to be attached to?

I'm guessing it's an indicator of some kind? Neutral gear, maybe?
