Betsy 2.0 rides! (finally)
« on: May 01, 2018, 05:16:52 PM »
Did a bit of winter mods and maintenace and finally finished. Just got back from a short test ride. Everything is in order save my blinker indicator.
Slightly new version with a new seat, new signals ,  new tail light, shortened rear fender, aluminum rear sprocket, shocks, new 17t front and chain, new fuel and drain lines, rebuilt petcock, new plastic chain guard, float valves reseated (no more leaks) . I think thats it. Have new oil filter bolt to install yet.

Struggled with the fuel delivery but got the petcock and float valves in order finally....Yay, Bob

Now, I like that.

If only I had the gumption to get out there and make mine look a little like that.

Did a good job on her, BobR.

Nice Bob. One good looking bike. Congrats.

Thanks! Ive always liked the "period modified" look it had when I pieced it together from junkyard ads in the back of magazines in the 90's. No internet , for me, yet. Tank from one junkyard, pipe from another, etc. Bob

Thanks! Just came together that way back in 98. Now I updated it a bit but pretty much the same lines....lot of polishing, painting, scrubbing and waxing though! :) Bob

Took it out today for my second short (10 mile) run since the winter mods. Feels nice with a 17T front sprocket. Maybe it suits the F2 motor better. Running like a demon too. Wrung it out to redline and it roared sweetly like only an old 4 into 1 megaphone can! With my 155lbs and 40 lbs lighter she felt damn quick for what it is. Bob

Sure is a Texavina brat style I bought from 4 into 1 (no affiliation with either). $249 , metal pan with rubber mounts already on it. Just had to swap over the hinges, latch and drill a couple holes for my reg/insurance holder. Bob

Thanks! Yeah I wanted a slightly "sportier" look. The front part of the fender I cut off weighed almost 2 lbs too, lol! I'd like to get one of these front fenders and bar end mirrors. Spent way too much money on mods and maintenance already though. Bob

If I were to cut on weight for the bike, I think putting down beer for a week or two would be more cost effective. Atleast in my case  ;D

Lol! At 155lbs and the bike 40 lbs lighter its kind of like a 115 lbs rider on a stock 750 acceleration wise. Of course a lighter bike is a bit easier to maneuver. Seeing that I was never into the all original stock thing shaving weight off the bike is kind of fun. Thinking of an aluminum battery holder and lighter battery....maybe next winters mods...
