Mike,

Remember according to my gram scale, the s522 pins are 44.9 grams, with the APE tool steel pins being 46.6 grams.

I’m think that you are going to spend a considerable amount of time in front of a lathe tapering both ends of 12 pins to get 5+ grams out each one😏
You're funny George. ;D they are good to go as is. ;)

True, I am hilarious  ::)  ;D

Your the one that just mentioned that it would be great to have pins under 40 grams😉

Is the saving of less than 2 grams worth it considering the assumed strength increase of the tool steel pins?  This is for nitromethane burning race engines after all.

Sorry Mike, late to the party. Those Suzuki pins would have been too short @45.4mm. They are nice though at 37.5 grams.

Just for the info I used CBX1000 pins early on (2" long) which weighed 44.4 g's and reduced that to 38.3. It takes a while though!

Are those Wiseco pieces simply polished pins? The first Wiseco tapered pins I used were polished, ok in a bushed small end.

Can Rick make these up mike or have a tool shop
Make them. What hardness are you looking for also.
Most inserts I deal with that are H13 are around 53/55 Rc
I might have a couple of shops that I can have these made
Still need to call you from the weekend
Talk soon
Jim
I was thinking about that Jim. The 3 pins that came with the motors are scary looking they have so much taper. They are light but geez. ;D
Do you really want light at this stage of the game or add a few more grams and not
Have to worry about the pins. I would match hardness and give it some wall
Thickness and let it go. But you know me, I over engineer everything
They should be easy to make. If I can help, let me know. And I still need to return your call

Just for reference, a set of MTC 73mm flat top pistons with rings and pins are 301.5 grams total.

And these were considered to be high quality pistons that raced in many big engines back the, from drag racing to road racing.

I’m guessing your piston set with APE 46.6 gram pins would be well below 250 grams.

You have bomb proof pins on hand...just sayin’🧐
