Smoke out of top main breather hose with a drip
« on: May 06, 2018, 08:47:07 AM »
I'm new to this forum so bare with me lol.. I just recently purchased a 76 cb550k. I took it for a ride a few times and noticed smoke coming out of the breather hose that goes on top of engine and it drips a little gas. Doesn't drip a lot but it still drips. Y'all have any suggestions on what it could be??

Not abnormal to have some smoke and droplets. Pure gas would be a bit strange however. It usually is a mix of water and/or steam, oil and maybe some gas. I take it your breather tube is disconnected then from the airfilter box. On my CB500 this tube dangles freely where also the 4 carb overflow tubes are. If it's pure gas, could it come from one of those?
