CB750F rear caliper compatibilty, 1976 vs 1977
« on: January 10, 2007, 02:11:15 PM »
Can a 1977 CB750F rear brake caliper be put on a 1976 CB750F?

The 1976 caliper has two pistons, the 1977 has one.  The basic
dimensions of the calipers look the same - they both sit between the
hub and frame, and bolt to a torque arm in the same place, but there
could be minor differences or the disc could have a different offset.
I don't get how the one-piston caliper works, since there's no float
between the hub and frame - maybe the B caliper floats?

Here are the part numbers, just in case:

Caliper Assy, RR 1976
43200-392-005 (replaces 43200-392-006, 43200-392-016)

Caliper Assy, RR 1977
43201-410-026 (replaces 43100-410-006, 43100-410-016)

Dont think its an easy swop, the one piston caliper slides on its mounting bolts and the mounting bracket is different

Don't think so since the '77 used comstars, the rotor offset was different, and the rotors on the '77 used (I think) 5 bolt pattern.
