Kickstarter gear and rod bolts
« on: May 06, 2018, 12:14:28 PM »
First a short video to get confirmation that I installed the kickstarter gear correctly.

It spins freely and rachets when the kickstarter lever is engaged. One trick to install was holding the spring with vice grips and using the kickstarter lever to rotate the spindle to get the rachet tab under its stop.

Second, I ordered F2 rod bolts and nuts but they are much tighter than the ones I pulled. I understand they are torque to use and should not be reused and yet they won't seat properly before assembly. Will they seat when torqued?

Well, after searching the archives, I found that the F2 bolts have a slight taper that pulls in when tightened. It's only like 0.001-0.002mm.

The closed up fine before they were tight. Torqued them up to 18.6 ft/lbs and now ready to close the cases.
