1973 and 1978 CB 750 Projects
« on: May 26, 2020, 07:15:48 AM »
Hello all, this is my first project bike I have ever rebuilt. I purchased a 1973 and 1978 CB 750 frame with 3 engines, 2 sets of carbs and four totes full of parts.

I believe that there are two 1978 engines and one 1973 engine. The carbs both look like they came off a 1973.

I think I am going to start with the 1973 frame and try to fully restore the bike and not chop it up. Might make a few modifications but still trying to keep it as original as possible.

I have started by tearing down one set of carbs and now I am trying to figure out where I should buy my parts. I am located in Canada on Vancouver Island in BC. I am not sure if I should try and stick with OEM parts or if after market parts would be okay.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forums! Hope you find what you need here. Glad to hear you're keeping it original! Another one saved. I've heard that for some folks it's hard to find OEM parts in Canada. Hopefully you'll be able to find a supplier you're happy with.

Yamiya

Are two good suppliers.

Be careful with the carbs, save all the stock brass you can, replacements are hard to find and if they are not OEM the quality is sketchy. Most of the time the brass is ok.
Buy Hondaman's book, a must read to keep you out of trouble:

Well worth the money

Again, a must read.

Welcome from Texas.

Vintage CB750 is a good source for parts in Canada.  As mentioned, OEM carb parts are best.

This forum and eBay are good sources for original parts, but shipping to CA can be pricey.

Frank 754 is close to you and sometimes has his parts shipped to Washington and he picks up there.

Good Luck!
