 Got in this morning  to this overheated 2006 Honda Pilot trans. Man do they reek when the convertor goes...sort of like burnt eggs... anyways another side of Honda...Bob

8 hours later. everything cleaned, drums/shafts are built, valve body disassembled ready for shift kit. Tomorrows another day...

What's in the black box at the bottom? Carmelly candy corn?

  Lol, just a clogged up filter. The main filter on Honda's are non-serviceable. The smaller cartridge style is usually external and serviceable- but not on this model -its inside also.

I love how they make filters non-serviceable these days unless you crack it open.

 Yeah Honda's done that forever. They at least starting adding cartridge auxiliary filters later. Bob

Use all available sonnax upgrades and clean clean clean bores for all valves in valve body. I did already 3 similar ones (BYBA - Odyssey 1999 - 2004). No shortcuts. Also recommended atf cooler and magnetic filter if you don't have one yet. Good luck!

   Wish this was an Odyssey BYBA. Done a lot of them.  This variant (BVGA) is more scarce so less familiarity.  Prefer the Superior kit these days over Sonnax stuff for these but thanks! Make sure to check ( replace/remove) the small in line filter they sometimes have. Cant remember the years they used them but they are small and easily missed. Bob
