CB500 clutch push rod and seal

My CB500 developed an oil leak at the clutch push rod seal. Upon inspection I found the push rod badly worn at the point of contact with the seal lip. As the original push rod is no longer available I had to find a substitute. The push rod for a 2005-2015 CBR1000 (part number 22850-MEL-000) is the correct diameter for the seal but is too long. I cut it to the proper length and had to reduce the diameter at the clutch end a small amount to match the original. Works great.

I was a cheapskate and used two pushrods from a Pontiac V8 that I had laying around, the dia was only .002 larger than the original clutch pushrod and the seal never noticed. One wasn't long enough so I had to cut and weld 2 of them together to get the correct overall length. It worked excellent however I wouldn't recommend my method unless you have your own welder and lathe or have access to them.

Do a search. Somebody in UK offers an improved version of the rod.

DSS lists 5off originals on his UK site at this time.
I found originals (parts ali, part steel) gave less cold to hot change in clutch biting point than aftermarket parts.

you gotta check the wear in that cork screw lifter assembly,once worn too far it cranks the rod sideways somewhat and provides less actual disengagement of the clutch aswell as distorting the seal,also makes them hard to adjust between to not slip or drag.
