1973 750 oil drip

I have been working on my 73. I have noticed a oil drip on the left side , it is not the shift seal, and i suspect it is the oil seal behind the sprocket . Question is can this be replaced as it sets.

 Check around the neutral switch under the engine on that side also. I had one that was a pretty good leaker. It was not even the gasket but was coming through the body of the switch.Easy fix.

Yes, the seal behind the sprocket can be replaced.  To get the old one out, drive two screws in it and pull it.  The new one goes back in with a - very - light use of silicon to make sure it stays.

But, as other say, first check where is it really coming from.

also do a really good clean under the sprocket cover...very common for the case to be cracked in there

Thanks for the input. It is not equipped with the "auto lube" system,must of been a option. I am waiting on rear shoes,then the "ass end" comes apart. I will look things over then. Hopefully it is not a cracked case as SeanBarney experienced .

 All the K3's came with an oiler from the factory. Maybe someone changed it out with a plug ? They stopped in either 75 or 76, can't remember right now. Well i found the culpit, Small dime sized chain slap on the case, Pieces still intact 3 coats of JB weld and wala no more oil drip. Installed the 4into2 Jardine turn-out slash cut exhaust, This think is coming together ,it may see some road time real soon.
