550 front axle placement

Had her garaged for a year, now I'm going over everything and I cant remember if this is correct or not. Should the axle be flush w/ the outside of the mount? Advice please. I'm rusty and confidence is just low lol.

On my 550 it sticks out a little past flush. Yours doesn't look right for sure.

Also, the axle cap has an orientation to it. Look underneath of it, there’s a small, single, stamped dot. That side goes forward creating a gap at the rear.
