Mild steel parts? Bummer. Would be killer if they were stainless  :(

Even though they are mild steel, you would be very smart to back purge weld them. Any time you can eliminate the atmosphere from your welds, you're far better off. Yeah, I know, they're 2-stroke pipes and will be sooty, but the weld will be much stronger and last far longer.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of it's victim may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. Lewis

the good thing about daves pipes is that they always work , he made me a couple of sets for a tz350 in 1978 !
have had plenty more since , just be very careful to keep the lengh the same when cutting and welding . im not a great fan of this engine but it should make a great bike .

Agreed on, i wish they were stainless.  But hey, if mild steel was good for Wayne Rainey before he rain titanium chambers, then i guess i can get by with them.  I do wish i had some ti ones.

Thanks for the advise on back purging them!  Will do!

Also got my ohlins axial style forks from an Aprilia RSV with brembo calipers for the front.  And am going to go with dymag magnesium wheels after I get my rear wheel width figured out
