there are smaller ones out there that may likely fit your bike. Stick a set of oem Airbox boots in that big one and you have a real airflow improvement.

I made some small L brackets and mounted some LED running/brake light and turn signals. They arent finished, Ill sand them reshape them and paint them black. I haven't decided on where to mount front signals yet. The lights are the led units from revival cycle. The brake light is on the inside and the amber turn signal on the outside. I had to modify the front motor mounts to get the exhaust fitting correctly (ill add pictures later). Im also going to slash the two outside pipes.
The carbs got a bath and complete rebuild, I bought the rebuild kit from Scrambler Cycle and loved it. Once I have all the LEDS wired into the electrical box I'll pop the carbs on, mount the seat, and ride this thing.

As for the exposed wire ends in the back, I plan on slipping a jacket over it with a nice print or hide it in some aluminum line or something...ill get creative. I dont want to weld on this frame until we decide to powder coat it so Im trying to just stick with bolt on options.

I finished making the indicator brackets, decided to weld some ears onto the headlight bracket that had been eluding me. I think it keeps them tucked in nice and tight and keeps it a bolt on application, same with the rear brackets. Here are some pictures and videos of the lights. The larger unit (brake light) is the LED from Revival Cycle and the smaller is AMG Analog Motor Goods. How do I get this moved onto the project board?

Decided to run all the wires through the frame to the front and will hide the wires behind the opening on the neck. This is a good crash course into electrical for me, the wiring on a chopper is pretty limited, I'm already doing more than usual adding signals and more than one brake light on your typical chopper.

Here is a close up of what I chose to do with the turn signal and brake light wiring coming out of the back of my brackets. I used some fuel line to hide them in and tuck behind the frame, the wiring comes up and under the seat then runs into the backbone up to the front. The brake lights will go into the electrical box, the signals will run up to the switches.

Next on the list is slashing the exhaust pipes, rear brake switch, electronic relay, tie all the wiring together now they are all where they need to be, mate a CL 350 front wheel so I have some dependable front brakes. I tore apart the king queen seat that came with the bike but didn't fit the bike, looks like i can reshape the seat pan to match the curvature and weld some metal to the front for mounting to fit properly. I'll get it recovered as well as the solo seat I have for it. After I get the CL wheel I'll get new tires, sand and polish the hubs so the motor isn't the only nice thing here, lace new spokes, mount new rubber., speedo and tach, aaaaannnnnnnd i think that might be about it.

All the wiring is complete everything worked and I'm more than geeked. The carbs are back on with no leaks, fire coming out of the pipe tells me I might be running lean. Im going to tune everything tomorrow and balance the carbs. I cleaned up the stacks with some 00 steel wool. I managed to use old Honda wiring harness female and male ends on the new harness so everything can be disconnected, all the wires run from under the seat through the back bone hidden in the frame to the front and tucked away. I'll have better videos posted soon after it's tuned and I've ridden it. The signals are a little delayed because I need to clean the switch housing with some contact cleaner. I also had to make new brackets for the brake light switch, i'll take pictures of that as well. Someone mentioned that with such a raked front end that a cl350 front hub brake style wheel would cause it to get a little squirrelly, anyone have any input on that?

I have the headlight wired to be on all the time on high beam, the leds look great. Im keeping this bike as a rat rod, I dont have the budget to make it pretty. the girder would be 800-1k to rechrome.

awesome bike/project for the price. Idk why but I am attracted to these kinds of bikes, especially with an sohc4 motor. One day I will probably pick a project like yours if I can get a good deal like you did. Good luck.

The head light looks like an old bates headlight, in the video the high beam was on. I might add a toggle switch on the bucket to go between lo/high.

valves are set, new points installed because the old ones were showing pitting, timed, and carbs synced. I had to do a little fab work to get all of the brake hardware to line up and look good but the torch handled all of that. I pulled the rear wheel and installed some new brake shoes, found a finned points cover in the shop, found an old oil gauge in the shop, looks great. The bike sounds great after the tune up and fires up quickly, if it wasn't for this weather I would be riding it already.

I picked up the CL350 wheel, I started to sand blast it, sand it by hand then polish it, I have some NOS rubber on the shelf I'm going to use for the new 19" rim, also have some new spokes around the shop. Im going to use this opportunity to lace and balance from start to finish which is going to be awesome to learn.
I need to get new levers/perch for the cables coming off the front brake.

Was able to get the 350 wheel on today, chopped some scrap to fit inside of the girder and welded it in there, drilled a hole in the bolt for a cotter pin to finish the brake stay. I was able to use the axel from the hallcraft wheel. I've decided to yank the girder off, blast it, and get is powder coat gloss black, then clean up the springs and shine them up. A Harley seat should fit this bike so I'll visit the next swap meet to find what I need.

I LOVE the big front tire on here now, the front end doesn't want to fall to the side as much anymore providing a little more stability, I took it out for a ride today, it was kind of difficult only having a foot brake trying to balance this thing, pulling out of steep driveways and what not but It will be fun to ride once I have front brakes.

Where would I reinforce the girder, Im thinking about getting creative?

Hey Gurp,

The girder came with the bike when I purchased it and was already installed, I'm not sure of the frame make or the modifications needed originally. I just tightened everything up and greased all the zerk fittings which were about 16 fo them. I still haven't really figured out if I should reinforce the girder in some places or just leave it alone.

CCW on the round ones, had a bit of kickout at the bottom.
And I think Fury on some had twin shocks or springs.

Just got this girder back, will try to put it on an Amen rigid, but it needs a triple tree and stem..

I had a new seat made with the same seat pan, cost about 510 bucks but I wanted to see the quality of work from the guy so i pulled the trigger. I think it looks great. We are finally getting some warmer weather this Sunday and Monday so Ill have this bad boy out.

This was my first real build out for my friend so im pretty proud of this one. i hope he enjoys it.

I anyone is interested in the info on the guy who did the seat just message me, he is located in Troy, MI and does a lot of automotive upholstery work.

Yeah there is volume, it’s running. Yours must have been off. I don’t remember the name of the pipes, they were some 4-2, had a muffler end that stuck on but I slashed the ends and welded them instead.

Mike, the new owner sends me pictures of the restoration so ill post them here just to have as much of the bike documented in one place.

so far he took the seat back to the same shape and style as it was when i got the chopper, re chromed the girder and is about to put it back together, powder coat the frame, and just asked me for the 21" wheel but I had to remind him it came with a 17" hall craft.

update from new owner: "Still chipping on it, rebuilt the girder but he may shorten it or go back to 17" front wheel. The frame needed some welding, the neck bearings were trashed, had the wrong stem, needed new oil tank, tires, he picked up some forward controls for this as well. Was hoping to be finished with this by now but still in mock up."
