My girls: Farina 12, Miura 9. Both as high maintenance as their Italian names suggests.

Nick,  what kind of dogs are those?  Miscia (the brown one) looks a heck of a lot like a German Shepard or Malinoit, but her build is slighter, and the other, wow, let's just say I bet you can't keep any secrets around her!!

Yuli (the white one) is a white german shepherd. He's almost 9 months old, and 85 lbs. He's still growing into his ears  :D
Mischa is about a year old, ~65 lbs. She was the runt of the her litter, and is a ball of energy.  Both are full GSDs, no mixes

"Hope Ryanne", both names are good Irish names, fitting for a Irish breed, Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier. The Ryanne is the feminine of Ryan, which means "little ruler".  So true of most guard dogs.

Man, we are an off bunch. Most biker forums would have a babe in front of the bike. We're suckers for a furry dog. :-)

I was at an army hospital over the weekend. There was a lot that had me holding back tears, but the scene of the injured vet petting the therapy dog was hurtfully touching. I don't want to send this thread off topic; however, I feel the need to add that I felt inadequate and humbled by the soldiers there. Everyone I met had a positive attitude, and all I met either wanted to heal up and go back to their units in Iraq, or only regretted that they were not with their units.

Yeah, I thought the same thing. But being an animal lover I also remind myself that having a place in your heart for an animal is a sign of character. Can't we say the same about owning a classic Honda?

I'm also with ya all the way about being very humbled by our GI's.

Good going Fuzz! I have a friend (well, my sister's friend and she's cute so I wish she was my friend, etc...)
who rescues Pit Bulls. I think Greyhounds are beautiful. Just for perspective, I have no problems with hunting, love steak, and I think PETA lost their marbles to say the least; but horse racing (w/ jockey or hack), dog racing and bull fighting, et al... is a bad idea.

Now, if we raced homeless people and criminals... that's a race I'd watch! (kidding... about one of the two)

fuzzybut,

I have a good friend who is very active in retired greyhounds in NJ. Very noble cause that I wish I could convince my wife to do the same but she has a real problem with getting anything but a puppy... Don't know why, but it makes me sad that I can't provide a forever home for one of those guys...  :(

I'm excited for ya, Fuzzy. All the rescue greyhounds I've known have been wonderful dogs. When I lived on the north shore of Boston, I hated the sight of the trucks with the boxes on back as they traveled up and down Route 1 to the dog track at Wonderland.

greayhounds are just the greatest dogs. theyre quiet (rarely bark) the shed very little and almost never get that "wet dog" smell. the last one i had thought he was a cat i swear, i'd come home from work and there would be willie (named for william wallace) and 4 or 5 cats all sprawled on the couch together. they make excellent therapy dogs too which is what i want to do with this guy that i'm getting.

+1   i worked with a throughbred rescue organization when i lived in florida and had some land, fostering the rescues and getting em healthy and happy again. you wouldnt believe the horrific abuse that the horses and dogs go through when they cant run anymore. i do all i can to help homeless/neglected/abused critters by volunteering my time. 5 of my 6 cats are rescues/strays as well as the anti-christ dachsund we got last year

Hey DD, looking at your avatar reminds me that it's said after time people begin to resemble their animals... or other way 'round. :D

This was my best friend Blue, she was a Quarter horse mare that we had to put down at the age of 28. The video is at a schooling show with my wife Briana. I don't think I ever taught her anything but she taught me more about being a horseman than I'll ever know.
