the snake is the pet ... it's a Rosy boa constrictor..  a smaller cousin to the Redtail boa

he's full grown about 3 feet long and maybe 2" diameter at his widest point (tiny compared to most boas)
..i've had him about 6 years now ..he was about the size of a pencil broken in half when i got it

his name is Adidas (because of the 3 stripes)

here is a random pic from the net .. i would go take a better pic , but as you can see from the above photo, he just ate yesterday so i gotta let him be for a few days

i've owned many snakes over the years , Ball Pythons (too boring)  Redtail boas (too mean) ..and an awesome Burmese Python (too big) ...   i really miss the Burmese, that snake was cool as hell ... but he was freakin huge (like 6-7ft) and feeding it got really expensive (rabbits and baby pigs get hard to find after awhile) ... then when my son was born , my girl at the time said the big ass snake that could easily eat a baby had to go  ::) ::)    .. so thats how i ended up with this lil guy

here's my baby girl, Soi (full grown, though kitten sized). she's named after God, himself. Soichiro Honda. her brother was going to be named Chiro, but he was not tameable or catchable. neither was she, she came to me eventually. she was very feral when I found her under my old house in west Oakland. a gnarly hood.

she is now the sweetest little killer. she loves the new place, we have a big yard and mellow street, trafic wise. I think if I could clone her, everyone would want one. best sidekick ever. she likes to help out in the garage with me, and has gotten used to the air compressor/vacuum/sanders and whatnot.

I built her the kitty castle in the pic. I've built kitty condo's and catty shacks as well. :P one trick is to not use carpet as scratch material. sisal rope is way better and more like tree bark. she loves to claw it.

one of the other pics is right after surgery for an abscess. ouch. she had a tube in her face for drainage. lil scrapper!

last pic is of 'the beast'. we keep him in the basement cuz the landlord just wouldn't understand.

wow she looks alot like my feral/stray rescue Asparagus, gus for short. he's so docile that if he were any calmer he'd be comatose. he's also giant.

i absolutely HAD to share this picture i took of Gus this afternoon. remember, this is the cat that was born feral/wild. see how relaxed he is now? if he were any more docile he'd be in a coma :D when he sits on the back of the couch behind me, he will get so sound asleep he drools like a bulldog. i'll get up and have a spot of cat drool on my shoulder. dont know what i'd do without these little guys.

giant cats are pretty chill.
Here's Ito and Harley Quinn (named for the pattern on her face)
Ito has always been chill and cuddly, started out Harley's size (8#) and is now 14. ::)
We were told Harley would never play, wouldn't be cuddly, etc etc when we adopted her.  She has a grain allergy that made her fur fall out at the shelter. She was a sad kitty.  Now she plays with the boys, climbs into our laps, and keeps everyone in line.
I don't have any pictures of Bodhi uploaded yet... but he looks just like Ito without any of the white. He's a psychotic bastard.

does your tortie have what they call "tortietude" ? thats the main reason i love torties and calicos so much, that "dont #$%* with me" attitude.

yeah, she's a psychotic #$%*.  She adores attention until she grabs your hand and shreds it.  She loves being petted, but loves it even more if she can dig her claws into your jeans at the same time.  Then she'll jump up, find one of the guys and give him hell for absolutely no reason.  I love that cat. :D

Berlios, the 27 pound tortie we lost in 2008 was like that. with me she was miss sweetness and sunshine.......99 9/10 of the time. once in a while she'd attack when i walked past her. she would charge up and growl at any stranger that came into the house. once my brother-in-law got to the house before my wife and i and he let himself in..........and ended up with stitches in the top of his foot, i TOLD him not to go in until we got home  :D  then the big oaf went into kidney/liver failure, a real danger to way overweight pets. my present tortie Callie follows me around the house meowing if i dont talk to her and just like Hamish she doesnt let me out of her sight. with my wife she runs away as if the hounds of hell, or richard simmons were after her  :D

Harley is all of 8 pounds and has both the boys (12 and 14 pounds) wrapped around her paw.  She's given them some pretty smart smacks to the face, anod nobody sleeps on her bed without permission.

You know, I have been neglectful in posting pictures of MY pets and Tonight (actually Monday Morning, since it is 1:34AM), I was looking at the pictures of Brenda, on Making Everlasting Memories and I cam across this one. These are are first pets and, like Brenda, are long gone.

Of course Brenda is in the middle of them, she was TRYING to read her book and they just wouldn't let that happen. :) On the back of the chair, on Brenda's left, is Scooter (named after a cat that I had as a very young boy and my cat was named after a Catcher for the Arkansas Travelers Baseball team years ago) and on her right was Boots (because she had them) and then, getting into her lap was Shadow ( I think it was obvious, because he was black) and then there was Butch (because even though he wasn't a BIG dog, he THOUGHT he WAS!) I remember many things about each and everyone of them, that are pretty cool. These were only the beginning of all of the pets that we would have over the years and most of them are buried in the left rear corner of our yard. Just thought I'd share that. I think it was quite obvious, from the look on Brenda's face, that were were really into our pets. We both had a hard time passing up a stray and ALWAYS had several at one time. I can't tell you all how many times that Brenda would call me up and ask me to come up where she worked or to go to the vet and pick up another stray that she had some upon. I remember one time though, she called me and told me that she found a stray cat that had something wrong with it (I don't remember what it was now) and she knew that it needed to be put to sleep and asked ME to come and get it and take it to the vet, because she couldn't bear to do it herself. Caring for strays, was yet another thing that we had in common.  ;)

BY THE WAY, THIS PHOTO WAS NOT STAGED, They just kinda ganged up on her! They were always doing things like that. ;)

Our animal clan...  The howling dog is "Delta", an odd dingo looking critter that loves to howl when asked to "sing".  The other pic is "Dexter" the hound/rottie mix and his pal "oreo" the cat.  They are giving the person with the camera a real "piss off; I was sleeping" look...
