Post Pics of Your Pets
« on: January 10, 2007, 03:03:31 PM »
It seems that pictures of our pets find their way into other threads.  For example, there are some beautiful dog pics in the Do you like lurchers? thread.  So, I thought it might be cool to have a thread for dog, cat, snake, lizard and other pet pics.  I'd suggest a thread for children pics, but I know that most parents, understandably so, would not post pics of their children.  Anyway, I hope you'll post your pics.  I know that some of you have beautiful dogs, and I'd like to see what other interesting pets our members have.

Not seen them for the last two months, they go to the bottom of the pond in winter, it's warmer down there.

Sasha was my first dog.  He got bigger but never lost the expressive eyes.  He taught me things that no person could.  He was extremely friendly and goofy, but absolutely fearless.  He cared about only two things: food and playing.  When confronted by angry, territorial dogs, Sasha would walk up to the angry dog, and then run playfully around the dog until the other dog dropped its hackles and decided to hang out with Sasha.  It was beautiful to watch.

Lucy is my dog now.  I rescued her from an abusive owner (a super-wealthy surgeon no less) when she was almost a year old.  It took her about 4 years to get past the last remnants of abuse (she would flinch, etc.).  She's a gem.  Absolutely.

Trueman was my ex-sweeties' dog.  I'm including him because as far as I could tell, he was Mod 1 Mark 1 dog.  There are bunches of Trueman stories, but the funniest happened after he retrieved a ball I had thrown into the pond.  After he retrieved the ball, he dropped it at my feet, which was something he never did.  I asked him if he was OK just as the hackles on his neck rose and his lips pulled back (classic warning signs for dog horking).  Well, he let out a few really good hacks, and then horked up a frog that, apparently fine, hopped away.

The wolf-girl in the foreground is a sled dog mix of unknown type.  Moody, needy, and the love of my life.  The yellow Lab is my search dog.  He's a bit retarded as Labs go; but handsome, charming, and just plain loveable.  The border collie mix is a our littlest girl, and my wife's special pet.  Smart as a whip, mischevious, and never knows when to back down from a bigger, tougher dog.  The shed to the side of them is our henhouse.  Presently it's home to eight red and white hens.  We also have honey bees, three goldfish of some sort, and a sucker fish of some sort.  We always had cats, as well.  Our last one didn't come home about two years ago.  We figure the local coyotes got him.  He was an absolute lover.

That's all we can manage on 1/3 acre, living in town.

2 terrier-ists. Black is Shyla, 8 pounds, a rescue dog we got 3 days ago. White is Buddy (short for Budweiser), 16 pounds, going on 12 years old. Both are full of it. I just had to step into a fierce battle over a rawhide. too much fun.

Here are some pics of mine;

Sadie is the grand matriarch of the group, she keeps them all in line. Best mole dog ever.

Bruno was rescued from an abusive home.

Annie is our squirrel dog extraordinaire.

Buddy was found at a rest area when he was about 6 weeks old.

Flash the wonder horse and Bucky the buckaroo.

Midnight grew up around dogs and had never had contact with another cat since she was a kitten. She likes to ride in cars and swim in the pond.

Daisy is our newest family member, found her half starved in a warehouse.

These guys are dinner  ;D

Oh and here is a rare photo of Saddam`s cat ::)

My wife and one daughter name our hens, but I *don't* keep track of that.  I'm just thankful they didn't try naming the bees!

Wow, thanks!  I think the pictures help; they're all Labs, and I could show you exceedingly goofy pictures of each. ;)  As for the rest of your pets, they are all wonderful, although I'm still trying to brainwork how "Bucky" the buckaroo got his name. ;)

Magpie, CONGRATS on your new rescue!  I hope they are getting settled in. :)

Not bad for 1/3 acre. :D  As for your Lab, I always say that I didn't get a dog to do calculus, and I'd rather she be loving than smart.

It's very cool that so many are rescues or adopted.  I wish I could meet all of them and check out their owner's bikes at the same time. ;D

Boy that is a trend.

I have two dogs and two cats that were rescued.

must be a correlation with the SOHC's feel the love...... ;D

Say that got me thinking has anyone heard from smithrelo and bronco bike?

Don't remember hearing from her after her trip to New Orleans to rescue animals.
