Boy that is a trend.

I have two dogs and two cats that were rescued.

must be a correlation with the SOHC's feel the love...... ;D

Well, sure.  All our animals are rescues.  The bikes are a rescue, too;  though the critters are more important.  Come to think of it, the wife says she took ME in because she had pity on me; figured SOMEONE has to love this guy...  ;)

My wife has had this cat almost 10 years.  I'm not a big fan of cats, but sometimes she's the only thing that can make our baby stop crying.  The kids are pretty attached.  She also drinks beer and fetches.  It would be cool if she could fetch beer, but alas...

She's been throwing up since Christmas and has some kind of growth or blockage in her stomach.  Never thought I'd spend this kind of money on an animal, but she's going into surgery tomorrow morning.  We're pulling for you Kitty.

Here is my little guy, Blue aka The Chick Magnet. These are some pics of him as a pup, taken about 2 years ago. I got him at the Cleveland APL. He's a Husky / Beagle mix.

Obviously, I love animals -- many replies below:

Annie is our squirrel dog extraordinaire.

Did you ever see David Letterman's Dog Poetry?  It's a hoot.

This is my moth.  i said "bug, don't go into the light" but, alas, he went...

I'm sure that I can speak for all the SOHC4 members in offering you our sincerest condolences.  Next time, skip the "let it go and be free stuff."  Clip its wings instead. ;)  By the way, I didn't know that ferrets lived on hammocks.  Does he sip weak beer with a lime in it while watching the surf come in?

Here are our newest additions...

It's hard to imagine the chipmunk menace that lurks behind those eyes, but they don't call them terriers for nothing. ;)  Sasha didn't care about anything except dogs and people (in that order).  I'm not exaggerating to say that he missed entire herds of deer (10+ no more than 30 yards away) while he sniffed about.  On the other hand, he did have an unbelievable nose.  He once found an ant by sniffing for it. ???

I said I'd never do it myself, but I've done it several times now and never regretted it.  When he got older, Sasha got diabetes and then started to go seriously blind.  I scraped the change for cataract surgery.  About a week later, he was sitting across the room from me, and I just happened to look over at him because he was watching me.  Like a true Lab, he started to thump his tail on the floor.  I couldn't put a price on that.  Best wishes for her surgery. :)

Kermit doesn't do the escape/run away thing?

Never worked for me except with the older women who brought their dogs to the park in the morning. :(  I must be doing something seriously wrong.

Topaz

GSD x Rottweiller. A real sweetie. Born in a rescue kennel, came to us at 4 months. Now 7 years old.

Pharaoh

Greyhound x Whippet. Precocious hooli-brat from hell. Found wandering the streets of Dublin near dead from starvation at about 4 months. Now 18 months old

Dune

Greyhound x Saluki. Very affectionate and very very protective. Caught in a park in Cardiff where he had been living feral for about three months. Guessing at about 3 years old.

Rowan

Greyhound x Saluki. Skitty, aptly nicknamed "Crazy Paws". Handed into dog pound in Cardiff half starved and petrified of anything and everything. Guessing at about 3 years old.

We also have about 30 goldfish in a pond in the back garden  ;D

This is one of only two known photo's of my bestest furry friend, Solomon. I found him in a cardboard box in the rain in February back in '95 or '96. He was the runt of the litter and maybe only a week or so old, his eyes were barely open. Well, being the big old softy I am, I took him in, bottle fed him to help him regain strength and vitality, and let him sleep on my chest at night. When he was a little-un it was fine, but once he got almost two years old and 7 pounds, let me tell you, it might not seem like much but a 7 pound cat sleeping on your chest makes it hard to breathe. I got him used to sleeping off my chest but he never liked to leave my bed at night. He and I were great pals, and he was always waiting for me to get home after work, like he knew I was coming and sat in front of the door to welcome me home. When I moved to a new apartment in '01, I asked my Aunt to take him and she gladly accepted and I went to see him and visit him often. My Aunt was amazed the first time I visited after I left him there. I called her at work and arranged dinner at her place and about ten minutes before I got there, Sozzy sat in front of the door and waited for me to arrive. My aunt thought this weird and she told me and I said, oh, he always knows when I'm coming home. Sozzy passed away Thanksgiving 2004 from kidney failure. The Vet had warned me this would probably be in his future as he was a bit sickly ever since I found him and he had a tendency for kindey problems even from a young age. I miss my Sozzy, and look forward to having another buddy like he was with me.

My chameleon Herr Flick.  The most only animal crazy enough to bite you in the hand while he's sitting on it (I didn't drop him on the ground that time).
