Good on ya, Schmthaus, for rescuing a Black Lab. (At least he appears to be a Lab or Lab mix). Black Labs have a harder time getting adopted out than Yellows. I guess people prefer blondes.

Speaking of blondes, who in our age group **didn't** have a thing for Barbara Eden? (See confessions from several pages back.)

Nick, great looking Shepherds. The look like they're posing.
Thanks, they are a couple of characters. Completely different personalities between the two of them. Brown and tan is ~2yo, white is 1.5yo.

Here's her and her buddy smiling after an hour or so tackling, chasing, boxing, gnawing on each other.

i've said it before; animals are the best! this world would suck (never mind what would become of the eco-system) without the beasts. i just wish we treated the ones humans made (domestics) a bit better.

ah, Barbara Eden.

i just skimmed this thread , and it's all mammals...

what ,  you guys got no love for the reptiles?

this is my rosy boa.   his name is Adidas (because of the 3 stripes)

he's the smallest of all the snakes i've owned

i've had 2 ball pythons, one escaped the other i sold because Ball pythons are really boring , they just sit there all day. And i also at one time had a Burmese python (i really miss him)  that snake was so cool ... but i had to get rid of him because he was too big (new infant runnin around and all)    i was sad to see him go, but once the larger breeds get really big ,it gets a little harder to stomach watching them eat.  mice and rats is entertaining , but when you have to start getting rabbits and baby pigs... well.. i started to feel bad

witch is why i now have Adidas (he's full gown) when i got him he was about 4 inches, now at 5years old he's about 3 1/2 feet

and our German Shepherd puppy Zoe.

I've had a few lizards too, but unfortunately they're no longer with us. This is Gex and Liz they were collard lizards.

and Odin he was our baby bearded dragon.

Guess I should add our latest addition...we just adopted her. She's about 6 weeks old and is missing an ear! When she was about a week it was torn off and the rest of the litter killed (there were 5 others  :'( ) when the mother and another dog had a fight over a bone or something.

Her name is Abbey and she is apparently pure Golden Retriever.

LOL...I have one of those familiar faces I think. I get asked all the time if I am related to this guy or that guy. Of course being slightly over weight, slightly balding and having facial hair I do kinda look like a lot of different people  ;)

I do have some family in Ottawa but no Gibbards...and those that are there are pretty distantly related.

But hey I am willing to be an honourary Gibbard! Especially if it means I get to hang out near the "Market" in Ottawa!

Yeah it is sad but I was pleasantly surprised it seems to have no impact both on her hearing but also on her demeanour. She is very comfortable with other dogs and seems to enjoy tormenting my 11 year old Australian Shepherd mix!

new pics of a couple of the boys, asparagus (gus to the people that know and love him) and Hamish, the old man. Man, i hate how fast Hamish is aging, he's only 12, 13 next month on the 6th. but he's already on cosequin for his joints and you can see the white thats around his face and muzzle. the daughter in laws cat we kitty sat when she did 2 tours in the middle east, was at the time 20, when she went home she was nearly 23 and had my younger and larger cats absolutely terrorized, while Miss Kitty ruled with an iron paw. she just had to be euthanized when she was diagnosed with cancer, but a still happy healthy and bossy 25. they all age different. just not fair that we outlive them by so much isnt it?

I know what you mean, Fuzzy. Wasn't it Hamish that was born on your kilt or gave birth on it?

My Lucy is starting to get grey, and it makes me sad. She's such a good dawg that I feel like she doesn't deserve it. But then again, she was saved from death's door when she was about 4. She acquired some sort of weird auto-immune disease, and if it were not for the vets at the Cornell animal hospital, she would not have made it through. Worse, her original owner, a rich surgeon, was going to put her down at age 1 because she needed hip surgery.

Funny thing is, the animal hospital and vet are her favorite places in the world, despite explorative surgery and lots of shots. She has to go back for regular checkups, and she gets all nutty as soon as we get close to the hospital. While she's in the waiting room, she gets bonkers each time someone with a lab coat comes out: "My Turn! My Turn! Please!" (Third year students work as interns, and they bring the animals back to the exam rooms.) When she's in the exam room, she can't wait to go into the back area where they do blood draws. Labs!

But while I'm on the subject of vets, no dog beats Trueman, my ex-sweetie's dawg (see page 1). When it was time for him to go into the exam room, he would run at full speed and leap onto the exam table. How he didn't go sliding off was a mystery.
