Dennis…. They look superb. Well done!

Thanks John!  Hope they run good too...  Mike says, if carefully bench synced, they rarely need anything more.  Fingers crossed   ;)

That Red Rubber Grease in the small container?

Having dealt with Girling and ATE brakes on cars years ago I have some experience with red rubber grease, but that is not as opaque as the stuff in Girling rebuild kits

Nice work on the carbs, they look spify all cleaned up…

I've always called it silicone grease...  not sure why the red color.  It sure makes life easier with o-rings and such.  Going to use a light coat on the carb boots.  Just a slight bit of lube makes things so much easier.

Thanks David!

We've been using Brakecrafters for years, they even helped us track down stainless caliper pistons for the Suzuki GS 1100's. I love their complete kits.

I've used [real] silicone grease on the intake hoses, the same kind as found on automotive sparkplug boots. It doesn't attack the rubber over time and also doesn't wash itself off with use.

Permatex has a newer silicone ceramic brake antiseize lube for brakes in same 8 oz bottles like the aluminum antiseize and similar. The have a ceramic extreme formula as well. I'm revisiting my brake job I did in early November as I was using some ancient Moly bases silicone grease Volvo used on pad backing plates and pins and antisqueal shims and it is 20 years old and has lost some of its moisture. So I was giving everything a good cleaning again, also putting a pair of rotors on the front and when I get some help I will be changing the rear calipers as I don't trust the passenger rear caliper...
Having a breakdown due to it losing the caliper sliding pin screw on top and had that happened at speed with bottom one nearly ready to fall out too. Both were torqued to spec. I didn't use thread lock on the screws, or I should say the mechanic doing the brakes when he changed a rear bearing hub for me didn't use any. I don't want a third time so. I don't trust the caliper any more.  I'm tightening those bolts again tomorrow and changing rotors on front and re-lubing with the new permatex product.
I have several bikes to maintain and do brakes on and the car sees service from me every 18 months to clean and reinstall the pads and and clean and lube the rubber on the caliper piston boots and  I wait for brake pads change to clean and refresh the crease in the sliding pin brackets for the floating caliper design. I bought more than my lifetime supply in a 8 oz container, but I didn't feel like messing with smaller containers so I spent the $22.30 for a bottle shipped to my door from an eBay seller.  The new stuff has a silicone grease capable of handling over 3000F without running or propagation. So they claim, so it is as good as the Dow High Vacuum Petcock Silicone grease the forum recommendation is for pad backs and pad edges in the SOHC4 calipers. The Die High Vac Petcock grease I have won't go to waste... It will lube rubber parts on the bike.
My Suzuki VStrom and the top many Honda project bikes will see the new grease as well as the Dow product.

It lives!!! Took about 4 hours to get the carbs back in and everything else involved reinstalled. Even after all the checking, the #6 carb wanted to overflow at first. Once it was running it settled in and no more drips. Was great to hear this bike run after sitting for the past 36 years.....

Congratulations on it's firing up!

Thanks Stu!  It was great to hear it run after so many years.  It even blew out all this fairy dust like microscopic rust particles.  What a mess LOL

Real achievement! Congrats!

Thanks John!  I'm glad I didn't have any left-over pieces  LOL

Was going to make quick work of mounting some new tires yesterday, but the front one turned out to be the tire from hell and only got it mounted and balanced.  It had just the slightest deformity to the bead and would not seal up despite my best efforts.  Tried heat and ratchet strap, but no dice.  Ended up throwing in a tube to get it beaded up, then broke down one side of the bead removed the tube put in a new vale stem and with just a bit of luck, Bob's your uncle.

I looked at lots of tires before getting the Bridgestone Battlax BT46.  Was very tempted to go with the Michelin Road Classic like what I put on the Yamaha Turbo.  I also thought hard about the Dunlop D404.  It's getting harder to get tires sized correctly for these old bikes...

I'll probably get the rear one installed today.  Should be a piece of cake now that I've got my skill set all sharpened up.   :o

Temps up to 61 °F here today.  Took the bike out for the first time since fall of 1988.  Nothing crazy just 60 easy miles through the back country roads.  Bike is running good for not being out in awhile.  I think my gas cap vent is not working as it should, and I should probably put in new spark plugs.  Still a few things to do to the bike before spring, but I couldn't pass up this beautiful weather for February in Ohio.....

Thanks guys!  I can't tell you how many times over the years I've thought about getting this bike back in working order.  It sure is nice to be able to just turn the key and it's ready to go again.  I'm well pleased with how the carbs turned out, it starts right up and idles, and then is smooth and steady when you get it out on the road.  My cheeks are starting to hurt from smiling so much!!!   ;D

On top of all that, I had another super fun day playing with the bikes again today.  Had the CBX out for another 50+ easy miles.....  Still having gas cap issues, but other than that all seems well.   ;)

My friend Steve the of Honda Restoration (nos parts) has at least 5 caps. But he is away until the middle of April.
I just checked the website.
You could contact him and pay for it, if extremely necessary I could drive over and find it (my phone doesn't show location in what box)and mail it to you as I have a key.

I wouldn’t kick her out of my room. I like your CBX, nice work on both, Ohio has free MSF course, be sure to tell any rider… I think they require it, but don’t recall. Insurance discount from msf course is nice.

TN offers free tuition to their TN technical school for residents, good way to get training as room and books and can do A&P mechanic or diesel or automotive and other training as well as medical field training for technician and low level nurse or medical assistant and other stuff.
Governor Haslam in TN did a lot of good for Tennesseans doing that. Only need 6 months residence to establish residency to get in line for the enrollment in the program. So, good way for youth to go to technical college/school to take a practical approach if they want a career or way to support themselves and family.
Moving to an area where salaries are higher without outstripping their income because of high cost of living. But not everyone is built like me not wanting to live where you grew up but see the country and live in other places…
They don’t all have my issues either, I got more than my fair share of issues…
Wish I had become an A&P mechanic and specialized in avionics.  That was my dream and parents pressured me into doing different program…
